Valentina knew it was silly to run, but for some reason she felt really worried. She had to hurry to look at the test scores, so ensure that she had done the best in her class. Her parents would accept nothing less, after all, so it was better to double check.
She turned the corner and quickly paused, seeing the crowd of students huddled near the postings. A lady shouldn't run, so she quickly composed herself and delicately walked over, looking over a shorter classmate of hers.
She then let out a sigh of relief. As always, she was on the top of the grade list, a fact that would at least spare her from punishment. In the corner of her eye, she saw Diana walking over to the crowd.
"How did you do?" Her pink-haired friend asked as she grew close.
"Top of the list, like always. Did you see how Ludwig and Johann did?"
"You have to see it to believe it, Valentina. It's awful.."
Her heart sank as Diana grabbed her by the hand and led her down the hall. She caught sight of Johann dipping into the bathroom as they passed, the two locking eyes for a moment before he went out of sight.Soon, the two made it to where the grades were posted and Valentina quickly scanned the list. She could feel her face go pale as she finally found his name...five names down.
Not even top three...
This was strange, especially for Johann. He normally overtook his classmates, so she was completely confused.
"What? How...?"
"I heard the teacher deducted a few points from his grade for the cheating incident...but surely he must've done better than that..."
"Oh, no...father's gonna throw a fit.."
"indeed. At least you flew over the radar."
"I had to, Diana."
The two ladies walked down the hall to the lockers, stopping by Diana's locker. She undid the lock opening it and reaching inside to pull out two peppermints.
"Peppermint?" She offered Valentina, who accepted it.
"Thank you very much."With that, the pink haired girl closed the locker back up, the two walking down the hall to the entrance of the conservatory. Classes had ended and it was Valentina's duty to rush home and alert their father of their grades, after all.
"Where are you're brothers?" Diana asked, looking around.
"Most likely stalling for time. Johann easily has a punishment waiting for him, so he'll probably look for any excuse to hide here."
"Pity. We'll meet them home, then?"
"Perfect."
