So, as both a reader and writer, I enjoy reading other people's stories. Some of them are better than mine, however, some of them just suck. And that's better than lying, admit it. So, let's go through the list of things that bug me in stories.
1.) Long Sentences. [Such a creative name, right?]
So, you know when you're talking and you need to breathe but you don't wanna end it so you keep going until you finish and your voice is slowly fading out? Yep. That's what this type of sentence basically is. It's like a bajillion thoughts shoved together in one tiny little sentence. And most of the time, it looks a bit like this:
"I woke up, brushed my teeth, got into the shower, got dressed, did my eyeliner and brows, grabbed my shoes then headed out the door to the kitchen, where my mom was standing in front of the stove, making breakfast."
Like, would you speak this way in person? I don't think so because if you don't stop talking, you gonna die. Second, you might be trying to speed up so you can actually breathe but the person listening is gonna be staring at you like, "What is even going on?"
Third, SHORTEN YOUR DAMN SENTENCES OTHERWISE, WE ALL GONNA DIE FROM READING IT.
2.) The Cut-Offs.
This sentence is the exact opposite of the Long Sentences. Instead of being millions of thoughts crushed together, it's the thoughts chopped into tiny pieces. It looks a bit like this:
The alarm woke me up. I pushed the snooze button and got up. Heading to the bathroom.
No. Just... No. All I gotta say is #DOYOUEVENENGLISH?
And that's all for now! If I missed any.. Mention it,,, I was too lazy to type. I know. I'm the worst. --D
