~Mark's pov~
"We shouldn't have brought him along. He's only making our journey more difficult," I state firmly, glaring at Enis, who visibly shrinks under my gaze.
"Mark, you can't treat him like that! He's trying to help us, even if it doesn't always work out."
"Well, he should have put in more effort," I retort, scowling at the trembling vampire before turning back to Dodger. "And he's a vampire," I inform her slowly, "so he can't be trusted."
Tears begin to flow down Enis' cheeks.
"How can you be so cruel?!" Dodger demands, while our 'companion' stands up. Enis lets out a silent sob and looks up at me with glassy eyes.
"I-I'm s-s-orry," he whispers in a broken voice.
"You're right, Mark. I am a monster." His response shocks me. The vampire bolts past me deeper into the woods we're in.
"Enis, no! Enis, please, come back!" Dodger shouts in the direction he ran.
"Great. He didn't deserve that, Mark."
I bow my head, feeling a pang of guilt.
