I woke up quite early, so I can get ready for the first day of my new school, I don't wanna look like a slob for my first impression.

"Daniel, y/n, breakfast!" Ma yells.

"One sec, Ma, I'm getting dressed!" I yell back.

I put on a t-shirt and some flared jeans, it's so cold in the mornings here. I quickly brush my hair and take my makeup bag with me to the table.

"Thanks, Ma." I say, as I take my plate and start eating my breakfast whilst putting mascara on.

"Daniel!" Ma yells again.

"Hi Ma." He says as he opens the fridge to grab some orange juice.

I frown my eyebrows at him as I realise he's wearing sunglasses inside? It's not even sunny outside, let alone inside.

"How was the party guys?" She asks.

"Good." I reply, my mouth full of food.

"It was okay." Daniel answers bluntly.

"Come on, it must have been more than okay, I didn't even hear you two come home."
"Any friend material?"

"Yeah some, couple of guys." Daniel replies, trying to avoid eye contact with everyone.

"There was a group of girls who seemed nice enough." I say and Ma smiles at me.

"I gotta go." Daniel interrupts as he grabs a slice of toast and heads to the door.

"Sit down and eat first." Ma demands.

"No, I'm not hungry." He says, putting on his shoes.

"Come on, you need energy to be charming."

"I'm fine. I got energy."

"Why's he in such a rush?" Ma asks me, and I shrug my shoulders.

"Do me a favour." Ma asks Daniel.

"What?"

"Take off the glasses."

"Why?" He questions, his tone becoming worried.

"Because I asked you to."

"Come on, Ma. Its California. It's the look-"

"Take them off. I want to see your baby browns." She interrupts.

"Ma, come on with the baby browns."

"Are you on somethin'?" Ma asks.

"I wish I was." I mutter to myself, laughing at my own unfunny comment, which thankfully nobody heard.

"Yeah, Ma. Minute maid-" Daniel jokes.
