"Proposal...?"

He thought back to what his editor had mentioned to him in his previous phone call. He recalled Hirose talking about restarting the application process. It was then that it clicked in his mind.

His eyes widened. "Oh! The one about the employee benefits, right?"

"Yes, that's right," Hirose replied. "The higher-ups approved the pay raise, and even recommended adding a milestone reward system."

"I see..." Y/N said, a smile of relief tugging at his lips. "And how would the system work?"

"Essentially, each employee will be given a quota, which differs depending on the position. If they meet their quota by their given deadline, they earn a monetary bonus reward."

Y/N thought about it. He wondered if maybe such a system would stress the staff out instead. Sure, it provided them with some motivation. But, if the conpany were to be strict about quotas, it could end up having the opposite effect.

He himself wasn't the best when it came to working under pressure. It was stressful and, at times, he worked hinself to the bone even when he had zero energy to function properly.

Overall, it seemed like an iffy idea to him. He wasn't quite sure how to feel about it and thought he should voice his concerns. Considering he was going to be their boss, he had to keep the staff's well-being in mind.

"Who knows, it might just work and get people to stay."

"Umm... Hirose?"

Hirose paused what he was saying and hummed, letting Y/N know he was listening. "I don't know if that's such a good idea... What if it turns people away instead?"

"Oh? How do you figure?"

Y/N leaned against the wall behind him, trying to gather his thoughts together. "Well... If the quotas get held over their heads, won't that stress them out instead of motivating them?"

Hirose hummed again. "I understand your concern. But, you don't need to worry. The quotas aren't as serious as you think."

"Huh?"

"Sato and I discussed it. Your churn-out rate was already higher than most at the company. Granted, you did have some help from Ren, but you still produced a lot of material."

"Well, yeah, but..."

"With an entire team, you could produce triple, or even quadruple, the amount of material. So, I can assure you that the quotas won't be hard to achieve."

"I see..." Y/N replied, feeling a little relieved at the reassurance.

"It's a matter of letting the staff achieve their milestones and feel accomplished. It's what keeps people motivated. And if it does happen, let me know and we'll fix the issue, alright?"

"Thanks a lot, Hirose... You've been a big help."

"No worries. We've already started writing up announcements. I just wanted your word on the matter before posting them. Hopefully, we'll hear back soon."

"Okay," the (h/c)-ette said, glad to hear that the application process was starting up again smoothly. "Let me know the roster once you've got everything finalized again..."

"I will. Take care. Have a good rest of your day, and don't forget to get plenty of rest."

"Thanks... Bye."

With that, Y/N hung up and slipped his phone back into his pocket. He let out a sigh of relief. He might have been anxious about meeting unfamiliar faces (which he still is), but having more people helping him out would allow him to get more sleep, and who wouldn't want that?
