She didn't know much about that place.
In fact, no one did.
But one thing she knew, is that it was one of the most beautiful places in the world.
She would climb out of her window every night. Climb into the highest tree in the town, and stare.
Away from te hate that was her school, her house, her people.
Away from all of that.
She would sit and stare in the only place she had peace. She would look from the tree right outside her room, on the edge of town, at the beautiful, mysterious mountians, from wich no one has ever returned from.
Maggie would wonder about everything.
Where she came from.
What she was meant to do.
Who she was. That tree and that mountains would sometimes keep her from strangeling her stepmother.
But in the end, she would always have to go to bed. She would always have to face her stepmother the next morning, she would always have to go to school the next day.
But something about that mountains made all the worries go away. It made her feel at home. And every time she felt down or someone made it hard for her to control her anger, she would come here. She had a feeling someone somewhere was looking for her, asking her to return.
And that gave her hope.
That tree made her feel safe, even for the lurking creatures at night. But she knew they wouldn't hurt her.
Sighing, she climbed down the tree, through her window and into bed. If she had things her way, she would never have to leave that tree.
Closing her eyes, she fall asleep. But just as ussual, that sleep gets interrupted the next morning by the screeching voice of her stepmother, Aunt Sylvie.
