A carriage trotted through the city, traveling under the lights of the lampposts to transport the two men inside of it to their destination.
Erwin and Levi were invited to a very special event being hosted that only very high class rich people would be able to go to. Of course, the got in because of their rank in the survey corps and Erwin's friendship with Commander Pixis of the Garrison.
Erwin was originally the only one invited, but was allowed to take a plus one. Having no one else to go with as Mike had a training scheduled for that night and Hange didn't do well with their reputation in large crowds, Levi was the one Erwin went to. Besides, he would've chosen him either way.
They were both dressed in more formal outfits. Erwin, a white tuxedo with a black button up shirt under it and Levi with the exact opposite, a black tuxedo with a white button up shirt.
Their hair was slicked back to look nice and pretty, such a formal event would've called for it.
Erwin looked out the window, awaiting the stop. Levi stole glances at him from the side, wondering what caused him to seem like he was... eyeing everything he saw.
Levi just sighed and slumped over to the other side of the carriage. He didn't care for parties or rich people, in fact he disdained them. He was only going for the fact Erwin asked so nicely for him to be there, and who knows what could happen to him at a party with a bunch of drunk wealthy pigs and merchants who would just get him drunk to sign him off on deals, no, with Levi's tolerance to alcohol he would keep them both safe.
Levi looked back over to Erwin before realizing Erwin was already looking at him. Erwin smiled at the other man. It was a warm, happy smile. "Thank you for coming with me." He said.
Levi blushed a bit. 'His smile looked so sweet and genuine.. and nice. It was gorgeous...' he thought, he snapped out of it quickly though as the horse came to a haunt in front of a large building. People in fancy dresses and suits were lounging around outside and pouring into the building. Laughing and drinking, having the time of their lives.
The two men stepped out of the carriage and immediately there were eyes on them. Some in attraction, some in repulsion.
Erwin was a handsome man, Levi knew that. The amount of times women had tried to flirt with him in and outside the corps was enough to know so. They chuckled and turned to their friends, pointing and laughing and blushing. It almost made Levi jealous.
However others were disgusted, being Commander of the survey corps meant a lot of people blamed you for the deaths of countless soldiers, and they didn't let you forget it. They looked at Erwin with a devilish stare, yet he kept his head high.
Others looked at Levi for his reputation as "Humanity's Strongest". His physical setbacks were no match to his incredible skill in hand to hand combat, ODM gear, agility, endurance, and titan killing. He was an amazing figure of strength and kept a serious face on in front of everyone.
Except Erwin, of course.
He kept glancing towards Erwin to see if his face faltered from his usual stoic expression in front of the gawking and glaring, but it didn't, as usual.
Levi found himself being very protective over the man for a long time, he didn't mind it, though. They had a very close bond and were very good friends, it wasn't surprising he felt this way over him. Still, it was a type of protection that he never felt for anyone. It was odd, but he brushed it off from his mind as they entered the large ballroom.
A gorgeous chandelier illuminated the dance floor as people moved around in their elegant gowns and outfits. Some flirted, some talked, some sat over at the bar, already drunk.
