The wedding season was on, and everywhere in the town one could find at least one or the other wedding function going on. The same way, Ashita and her in-laws were invited to a wedding function. The function was one of the closest relatives and so they were invited as the chief guests. Ashita had heard her mother-in-law, Shakuntala, when she was talking to one of the relatives on the phone, that they were invited for a grand wedding. It had come to the notice that the family in which the wedding was happening was a very traditional family, but a well off family. So Shakuntala had called Ashita and said " bahu.... Aaj hum sab ek shaadi attend karne jaa rahe hai. Woh log bohot hi sanskarik hai. Isliye tum achche se saadi pehenkar tayyar ho jao."(daughter..... today all of us are going to attend a grand wedding. Those people are very traditional. That's why I want you to wear a good looking Saree for the function). Ashita agreed to her and said, " maaji aap fikar mat kijiye. Main jaldi se tayayr hokar aati hoon"(mom, don't you worry. I'll quickly go and get ready). With this said, Ashita quickly went in to her room and decided to take shower and freshen up. She wrapped a towel on her head, when suddenly she saw herself in the mirror. This made her to forget the work, which she was actually supposed to do, and instead, she began admiring herself in the mirror. She said " Haaiiiii yaar, kitni toh sundar lag rahi hoon main. Tayyar hone ki kya zarurat hai. Poori shaadi mein sab iss khoobsurati ko nihaarte reh jayenge."(oh my...... I look so beautiful like this. What is the need to get ready? Everyone's eyes will be fixed on me in the wedding).

Time was passing by, and she was busy admiring herself. Just then a voice was heard from the hallway, Calling her name,. It was her mother-in-law who was coming to have a look as to what Ashita was doing, and wanted to make sure if she had started getting ready or not. But before she could even get to her room,Ashita herself, in hesitation, quickly ran to the hallway, and said what a joyful face, "ji maaji. Aapne bulaya??"(yes, mum, did you summon me). And when Shakuntala turn towards her, and saw her in the same condition as she was a while ago, she burst out at her, " Tum abhi tak tayyar nahi hui? Function ka time ho raha hai aur tum ho ki meri baat ko bilkul bhi seriously nahi le rahi ho??"(you didn't get ready yet? Time is running away, and you are not at all taking my words seriously?) . Ashita was murmuring as she did not know how to respond to her.
