chapter 2: shadows

Estelle stood with a blank face as they enter the knight's training hall. It was the smell that hit her first, sweat, tears, a little bit of shame came right at her. Estelle had to resist the urge to puck up her lunch. Had her brother been like this as  well? " no never! " she though.

" well newbies this is where you will be assigned to a captain " Ben said loud enough that all the other sweaty knights turned to watched them.

" jolly " she thought pulling herself together.

Once again they had to line up and face front, as they where assigned. Each captain had two recruits, she didn't know if she was luckily or unluckily as her and Finn where assigned together to a captain named Glen, who was nowhere to be found.

Estelle found the bunks that were there's, She quickly claimed the top bunk. It would be easier for her to sleep knowing that no one would look. Estelle throw her bag on the bed before climbing up, she hadn't except mice to be on the bed. These where not the furry animals that are mice, these where demon infested mice. Quickly she shoowed them away. She couldn't be bothered by such low demons. It seemed like they where everywhere lately, but why.

Demons are drawn to her, as they are drawn to anyone who has Alucard blood. That is why they are called demons of the night, and also why her brother meet with death. She would have to be extremely careful not to draw their attention towards her. Someone among these people where the killers. 

Getting impatient she jumped down from her bunk " come on Finn let's go find our so called Capitan " she said dragging him along with her.

 " Ludgar, do you even know what Capitan Glen looks like? " Finn asked with a sigh

Estelle just rolled her dark eyes " no " she said marching on.

She looked everywhere, the garden, house stalls, training yard, yet he was still no where to be found.

Frustrated she stopped " I'm going to rest, do what you will Finn " she said and left Finn to his own devices. Estelle decided to snoop around, she looked around and made sure no one was watching as she backed into a showdow from the training yard. With a deep breath, " oh demon lend me thine power. Embrace me in thine silent showdow " she thought holding her hand out.

Estelle felt a rush of air go passed her. With a flick of her wrist, everything went gray. She was in the realm of shadows. In the domain of a demon "What are we going to do today Elle?" A voice whispered into her ear.

" adamaï, I would prefer you not whisper in my ear " she said yanking something off her shoulder and throw it away from her. Adamaï was a darkling, a small human like creature covered in darkness, with large black almond-shaped eyes that where to big for his little face. His fingers are long claws, that could cut through anything. All in all he was a useful but nasty little demon.

She watch him shrugged his shoulders and hold his arms " Elle you no fun!" adamaï protested.

Estelle ignored him as she moved around within the shadows. " I need to find it " she muttered walking past the people training in the yard. No one could see her or hear her when she was within this realm. 

adamaï let a twist smile cross his dark face " it?, Elle what is it? " he asked sitting on her shoulder 

Estelle glanced at him with cold eyes " would it be, in the captain of the knight's office " she said with a dark smile.

adamaï quickly dropped his smile, at the sight of Estelle's eyes. " if that is what you wish dear Elle " he said. With a snap of his claw like fingers they were in the office.
