An unexpected find

After the leader of the galra invaders had been defeated by the black paladin of Voltron life could finally get back to normal for those who lived on Earth, albeit in a different way than before since aliens were coming from all over the universe and there were still a few galra who were waiting to go home. (Y/n) (L/n) had been lucky enough to not have been captured by the galra, although her old home in (H/t) had been destroyed during the first battle, leaving the young woman homeless for a couple of years during the war. Eventually, she was able to get a new home in the middle of nowhere a few miles away from where the final battle took place; house prices had dipped tremendously, so (Y/n) wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to have a really nice house. The house she bought was very large and had several large rooms; she was a veterinarian, so she dedicated a room specifically for pets in case she had to keep an eye on one overnight. Starting over in a new location was a little stressful for (Y/n) at first because she was unfamiliar with the area, although after living in her new home for about a week she finally began settling in.

(Y/n) knew about the wreckage of the galran cruiser in the desert a few miles away from her new house, so she decided to go see it out of pure curiosity; it was a shipwreck and shipwrecks were cool. She made sure to pack everything she needed and a few other things just in case she crossed paths with someone, that way she wouldn't be completely defenseless. The drive to her destination wasn't too horribly long and (Y/n) enjoyed listening to her favorite radio station in her car during the entire trip. (Y/n) remembered seeing the huge galra cruisers in the sky right before she went into hiding; the alien ships were bigger than some small towns, so the one she was looking for wasn't too hard to find. Every city and town on Earth had been damaged during the invasion, although the countryside, deserts and forests were mostly unharmed.

(Y/n) was speechless when she arrived at her destination, her eyes widening as she stared at the massive ship she drove towards; seeing the ship made her feel a mixture of awe and fear, thankfully she wasn't too frightened to explore the wreckage as best as she could. Once she parked her car (Y/n) took a deep breath, unbuckled her seatbelt and opened the door before she stepped out and closed it. Seeing the cruiser up close made the young woman realize just how advanced the galra were compared to humans; the cruiser was absolutely massive and it made her wonder what it would be like to live on one. As she walked closer to the alien ship she wondered if there was anyone left; the final battle had only happened a couple of weeks prior to that day, so there was a chance that there might be a few bodies lying around. (Y/n) hoped that she didn't come across any bodies for multiple reasons, so she kept an eye on her surroundings in order to make sure she didn't come across any dead people.

A gentle breeze was blowing her (H/l) hair as (Y/n) walked even closer to the wreckage, looking up at the broken ship as she got closer to it. There would be no way for her to walk all the way around it, so she decided to just explore the area that was closest to her; she reached out with her right/left hand and touched the side once she stopped walking, feeling how smooth it felt to the touch. (Y/n) imagined what it must have been like during the final battle as the ship fell to the ground while Shiro battled the leader of the galra before Keith came to Shiro’s aid, the only way she knew what happened was because it had been on the news. The young woman just stood there for a few moments, staring up at the massive galra cruiser whilst realizing how real it was. (Y/n) took her hand off of the ship after snapping herself out of her thoughts, turning to the left so she could walk around to see if she could find anything; a deep yet quiet groaning sound caught her attention which caused (Y/n) to stop in her tracks, her heart suddenly pounding in her chest as she surveyed the area around her.

"Hello? Is someone there?" (Y/n) hesitantly asked out loud whilst looking around, spotting a big lump in the distance.

As far as she was aware no one should have been at the wreckage, although she reminded herself that someone might have been searching for their dead comrades which meant she might not have been completely alone. When she heard another groaning sound she realized it came from the big lump in the distance, causing her to have a mini panic attack; she thought it might have been a ghost until she walked closer and realized it was a person laying on the ground. (Y/n) didn't know anything about galra biology and she wasn't sure if a galra could survive a few weeks without food and water, so as a veterinarian her first instinct was to see if they were okay. As she slowly walked towards the dust covered body she noticed how they appeared to be a huge galra, a male as far as she could tell by looking at the body. The person (Y/n) was looking at was Sendak who had been killed, or at least that's what everyone thought; Sendak managed to survive Keith slicing through his chest, although he was mostly unconscious for the previous two weeks.

"Woah, you're a big one. Are you even alive?" (Y/n) spoke out loud as she walked around Sendak, hesitantly kneeling down so she could get a better look at him.

Sendak was barely conscious during that particular moment, but he fell unconscious again which meant he didn't know what was going on. (Y/n) reached for Sendak's wrist with a shaky hand to see if she could feel a pulse, searching for it until she could feel a faint beating feeling under two of her fingers; he was alive, but just barely, so she decided to help the poor galran man. She obviously couldn't drag Sendak all the way to her car, although she could drive over to him and tie him to the roof/put him in the back. Living out in the middle of nowhere had its perks, the best one being that there were absolutely no nosey neighbors to bother her. It took almost an hour, but (Y/n) eventually secured Sendak to her (C/t) so she could drive home and she would be able to hopefully save his life despite not knowing who he was.

(Y/n) sighed once she dried her hands after washing them, making sure she didn't have any blood on her wrists after patching Sendak up. She'd been wearing gloves, but she couldn't be too careful while patching up an alien man; she had to remove his armor and uniform, so she definitely knew about him being a man after seeing firsthand what male galra had going on in between their legs. After spending most of the day getting Sendak home and dragging him to the room dedicated for keeping sick animals in her home overnight she felt exhausted, thankfully she had been able to shave his chest, clean his wounds and sew the slash along his chest up so she could wrap gauze around his upper body. (Y/n) had to make a nest made out of blankets and pillows for Sendak so he would be as comfortable as possible; she didn't know how long he would be unconscious for, so she was beyond ready to eat dinner. While she was patching him up (Y/n) definitely had the temptation to neuter him seeing as she knew how to do it, although she decided not to because he was a person and she wasn't cruel enough to remove a strange man's balls without his consent.

"I don't know who you are, but you're lucky to be alive." (Y/n) said while kneeling down next to Sendak who was hooked up to a fluids bag, caressing the side of his handsome face prior to standing up.

Having a strange galran man sleeping in her house felt strange, although she didn't regret saving his life considering that he could have died if she left him in the desert. (Y/n) stood up after a moment so she could go make herself some dinner; in order to feed Sendak she'd have to tube feed him, so she would do just that after she ate a quick meal. On the way to her kitchen (Y/n) smiled to herself, not feeling as lonely as she usually did since she finally had a houseguest, even though he was unconscious and needed time to heal from his injuries. Meanwhile, Sendak was completely unaware about being rescued by one of the humans he previously wanted to exterminate and thankfully he would be unconscious for a while longer. (Y/n) knew that the galran male would eventually wake up and she could figure out who he was, but for the time being all she wanted to do was eat dinner and relax her sore body.
