I woke up to the sound of the now four-member boy band singing Midnight Memories, and my head rose up in a snap. I grabbed my phone, and looked at the date today.

Wednesday. Algebra classes with Mr. Quill.

Oh, brother.

I shot myself out from bed and dashed to the bathroom to remedy my bedhead. After I fixed my face and hair, I headed for the shower and took a bath. Ten minutes later, I rushed to change into my clothes and put in my flats. I glanced at my phone, at least getting an update of the time.

30 more minutes left till 8.

I ran downstairs and boiled some water as I mixed my cereal with the fresh milk, and prepared my coffee as the kettle started to slowly whistle. A door bursted open as I worked on my breakfast.

"Ver?" My younger sister groaned as she walked over to the kitchen. I smiled as I finished mixing the coffee and sipped from it.

"Morning, Verlyn." I chirped in a soft voice as I kissed her forehead and placed my cereal and the coffee. Suddenly another sound was heard, and I turned back to the toaster to grab the bread.

"Toast, little sister," I said as I placed the plate of toasted bread on the table. All Verlyn did through all of it was watch me bolt from place to place as she rubbed her eyes. Another door opened, and I finished making her coffee as she sat down the table.

"Veronica, dear," Mom yawned as she made her way.

"Morning, Mom," I kissed her cheek as I gave her her coffee. She kept staring at it, seeming to reprocess what was happening. The final door opened, and Dad was already in his glasses.

"Hmmm, Veronica, have you forgotten my-"

"Three pieces of buttered toast with a little sprinkle of sugar and white coffee? No, Dad, it's on the table. Please sit down, and good morning." I greeted in the end as I gave Dad his usual breakfast, which left his mouth hanging open. The rest of the time flew by as my family was still frozen from watching me, and I shoved the last piece of toast and sipped the last drop of my coffee. I quietly put my mess in the sink and brushed my teeth, and as I glanced back to them, Dad, at least, was already moving and savoring the buttery flavor in his mouth.

"Bye, guys. I'll be back in the afternoon early and cook some chicken with Mom. Love you all!"

And I closed the door behind me, leaving my family comfortable for the start of their day.

I arrived in school with fifteen minutes left till 8, but school still wouldn't start in twenty minutes. I held my phone tight as I saw other students quietly roaming the hallways, and made my way towards the library. I was getting a feeling my library duty was extended today.

As I caught a glimpse of the familiar buttoned pantaloons moving, I ran faster to talk to Mrs. Lauren.

"Good morning, Mrs. Lauren," I took a slight bow as I approached her. She seemed surprised as she turned, because her face was written with shock and surprise as she turned to see me.

"Why, how early of you dear," she said as she held my hand.

I smiled. "Well, actually, I was just gonna ask about my working hours today. They're extended, right?"

She fixed her glasses as she nodded. "You've always been my best, Miss Grimes. Good thing you remember."

"Oh, thank you for the compliment, Mrs. Lauren. I just do my duties well." I honestly said. "But no one is perfect, and I never try to."
