Rin's POV"I am screwed." I think to myself. Right now, I'm stuck in a situation between a rock and a hard place...or rather, five men and a gate to be specific. As I try to keep calm, I think, "How did I end up in this situation?" I then begin to think about the few minutes leading up to this unfortunate situation.
I was walking down the street, still trying to adjust to my new life on Earth when I saw a man in a mask run down the street with what looked like a treasure box in his hands followed by a girl with short blonde hair and wearing large glasses who yelled, "Somebody help! He's got my treasure!" I don't know what I was thinking, because as soon as I knew it, I bolted after the thief. As I ran after him, I shouted, "Hey! Hasn't anyone ever told you not to take things that are not yours!" The robber turns his head around to say something when he runs into a tree on the sidewalk and the box goes flying into the air. I sped up and managed to catch the box before it hit the ground and turned to see some policemen and the girl running towards me. I smile and walk up to the policemen and the girl and hand the box over to her. "I believe this is yours, miss." I say and she smiles, "Thank you so much. If it wasn't for you, I don't think the embassy party would still be on." She said happily. "Don't worry about it. I was only doing what any decent person would do." I replied back. Then I see her pull something out of her purse, four invitations to a ball, and give them to me. "Here take these, there invitations to my company's ball that will be hosted in a few days." She said happily. I was shocked. After all, Yugo and I were never invited to fancy parties in New Domino City by the topsiders due to being commoners. As I thought about it, I smiled and politely took the invitations and put them in my pocket, and said, "Thank you so much miss." She bows and the girl and policeman leave, with the thief in handcuffs. I turn around and eventually end up in a neighborhood. I turn in a neighborhood alley and see five guys who turn around and look at me with frowns on their faces.
And, you can pretty much guess what happened next.
Present Time
I'm backing myself against a gate and thinking to myself, "Why am I always the one who gets caught in a dead end." The guy with the hat steps in front takes a look at me, and smirks. "Looks like this beauty is lost~," He says with a hint of lust in his voice. I try to calm my racing heart and try to talk my way out. "Well, I'm new to Tokyo so I'll just be on my way home now. Don't want to be a stranger to-""Why don't you stay with us for a while my dear~" The man says, cutting me off. I began to shake and silently pray for someone to save me, to which my prayer was answered when I heard an angry female voice call out, "Hey! She said she was on her way home. So back off you creeps!" The next thing I knew, a really tall, slightly muscular girl who looked to be about my age, showed up with a ticked-off look on her face.
One of the men then walks over to her and tries to grab her, but before I know it, she throws him onto the ground. Two of the five then run over to her, only to have her grab the one guy off his feet and throw him into two other guys, knocking them down. The guy with the hat goes to attack her but in that split second, I kneed him hard on his stomach, to which the girl then tattoos him in the face, knocking him out cold. The girl grabbed my hand and said, "Follow me to my house, it's safe there." I can only nod as I follow her to her house.
30 Minutes Later, Makoto's POV
When we got to my house, I opened the front door and let her in first. As soon as I came into the house, I slammed and locked the door. I turn to see the girl shaking and say, "You should really be careful in places like that, you were lucky I was there to save you." She only nods as I help her to the living room and gently set her down on the chair. "Thank you. I thought I was a goner back there. I'm new to Japan and unfortunately don't really have a home to go to. I just said that so they would leave me alone." She said as I make her tea. I hand her the tea while looking at her shocked, "Really? She nodded, "Yes." "Do you have any parents?" I ask already knowing the answer. "No, I was raised in a high-poverty orphanage all my life, but I didn't mind that because I have a friend that grew up with me in the orphanage, but we got separated when we arrived in Tokyo." She said sadly. I feel bad for this girl due to me having...or at least had parents. "I know what it's like not having parents." I say to her. I go over and grab the picture of my parents and show them to her. "My parents died in a plane crash when I was young." "I'm sorry for your loss. It...must be very lonely for you here" she says sadly. "Don't worry about me, I have friends who are now like family, so it's not as bad anymore." I say with a smile, then an idea came to me. "Hey, if it's not too much for you, would you like to live with me? She looks at me in shock and waves her hand in a panic, "I don't want to intrude." She says in a panic. I smile at her, "Don't worry, you're not. besides, I don't think you'll want to be outside if those creeps come back." She thinks for a moment then smile and says, "Well if it's not too much trouble for you, then I guess I can stay. I'm Rin by the way." She says and holds her hand out, to which I shake. "Nice to meet you Rin. My name's Makoto Kino." I say to her. Then I spend the rest of the day getting Rin's room made while thinking, "I'm interested in seeing how this will play out."
