You needed to get out. You quickly grabbed your phone and frantically looked for the Uber app as you rushed to the front door. You knew it was too good to be true. You never should’ve said yes to this job. You were under the impression that Harry was done with whatever situation he was involved with. He never explicitly said it but you heard him and Jeff talking it couldn’t have been a coincidence. You were almost at the door before you heard the first - “Hey, where are you going?” the same voice from earlier, Jeff and his fucking timing you thought. You took a deep breath in and out - you had to play it cool.

“I am just a bit tired and thought I’d best head back to my hotel soon.” You were just about to grab your denim jacket out of the entryway closet before he interrupted you.

“Let us call you a car?” Jeff said he had his wife Glenne on his arm who was also insisting that you let them figure out transportation for you.

“Oh, you don’t have to do that… I can call an Uber.”

“It’s so late you’ll never get an Uber out here.”

“You know what, why don’t you just stay here? We have a ton of extra bedrooms.”

You were truly fucked. You could not under any circumstances take up that offer. You had already crossed a ton of boundaries that if anyone at work knew about you’d never hear the end of it - the girl that slept with Harry Styles is what your reputation would become. Even though you’d done nothing of the sort it was the only conclusion anyone would come to.

“I can’t do that…” you looked down at your phone that was endlessly searching for a car, you were in a predicament and you needed to get out as fast as you could.

“I can drive you,” Glenne spoke, she was definitely picking up on your uneasy vibe, “I haven’t drank tonight and am probably the only sober person here. We don’t have to deal with ordering a car, I can take you.”

“You really don’t have to do that.” Even though you really needed someone to get you out of that house quick and fast. You looked up from your phone and past Jeff and Glenne as they discussed what car she would take and her telling Jeff he really didn’t need to go. When you saw them, standing in the same doorway that you were just at with Harry. The conversation from the looks of it wasn’t pretty, both of them standing arms crossed. You looked away for a moment. Saying your thank you’s to Jeff and Glenne and waiting for her to get her bag from the other room before you could leave. And just as you were turning around to walk out the door, your heart fell into your stomach as you watched Harry walk with her down the hallway.

The car ride was quiet. Glenne doing her best to fill the space with the sounds of the playlist she selected and you tried to make as much small talk as you could without coming off harsh. You didn’t want to be affected by his decisions. You couldn’t even begin to believe you’d be able to jeopardize your career for one weekend away with Harry, clearly all he wanted was to butter you up to get a good profile.

You were an idiot.

“I don’t want to cross any unnecessary boundaries… But are you okay?” Glenne spoke up. You were at a red light and ten minutes away from your hotel. What did you have to lose at this point?

“Ha, what gave it away?” You laughed to cover up the true disappointment you felt.

“I don’t need to know anymore than you’re willing to share. And I don’t want to come off as the manager’s wife defending him.” She took a pause. You looked away nudging her to go on, “his life is complicated.”

“That’s an understatement.”

“Really, I don’t know if it was the forced time away from work and the loneliness everyone felt but it truly seems like he hasn’t been able to get a lot right in the last few months. Which… never tell him I said that” you both laughed. It felt good to laugh.
