Dawn broke. Red and gold painted the sky as the mist began to lift from the forest floor.

A girl sat on a low branch of a tree, kicking her legs happily and smiling at the beautiful shade the sky had turned.

The girl could have been no older than eleven. Her silver hair moved with the gentle morning breeze and her grey eyes held a sort of innocence in them. An obliviousness to the dangers of the outside world.

"Pyrite!" A voice called out, making the girl turn her head upon hearing her name. "You shouldn't be out of the house this early in the morning. It's dangerous."

The girl inwardly rolled her eyes and pushed herself off the branch, hanging on with both hands before dropping to the ground. "I'm coming Mother!" She said, beginning to make her way to the small cabin she and her mother lived in along with a few others.

At her daughter's word's, she turned and headed back inside.

Pyrite was the only child in the house of five. The other residents consisted of her mother, her uncle, Joseph and Damion.

Although the men of the house were rough, they were kind and caring people that looked after the girl's every need and kept her safe from the world.

She had never understood why the adults were so insistent of keeping her inside as much as possible, but it must be a good reason, right?

"Oh, look at this. A stray kitten."

Pyrite stopped in her tracks at the unfamiliar voice and slowly turned to meet the intense gaze of two men.

"It seems that there was one out here." One of then men said, smirking.

"She's young...and pretty too." The other said. "The boss would pay well for this one."

Pyrite, not understanding the situation, slowly began to back away.

"Oops. Don't go now, kid." The second said, clamping a hand down on her shoulder.

"B-but Mother said not to talk to strangers." She said quietly, just realising that she had broken the rule just by mentioning it.

The first man's eyes lit up. "Mother? So there's others here?"

The silver-haired girl just kept her mouth shut.

The man the held her in place clicked his tongue in annoyance before gesturing to his companion. "Oi. Clear em' out and I'll deal with the kid."

At his word, at least seven other men emerges from the shadows, making their way towards the cabin.

Just the very scene was enough to make Pyrite shiver.

"Now," The first man said, glancing back down at the girl. "you can come with me."

"What? NO! MOTHER!" She screamed as the much stronger man began to pull her away.

As the girl cried out for her mother, the other residents of the house emerged to the sight of the child being forcibly dragged away.

"PYRITE!" Damion yelled out, brandishing a weapon the girl had never seen before. A silver knife. "Damn Vampires!" He yelled, lunging at the approaching group.

"Kill them all." The man ordered, hoisting Pyrite's small frame off the ground, leaving the child watch as the men advanced on her family.

"Mother! MOTHER!"

The man left the area towards a large black van parked next to a tree.

The first man from before joined his companion and opened the back door of the vehicle as Pyrite's captor pushed her kicking and screaming form into a small cage installed into the back along with many others, all stacked on top of each other. The cage door was shut and locked as the girl pressed herself against the bars of the cage, still screaming for her family.

The two men glanced at her before shutting the van door, plunging the choke into darkness
