It was the 1800s when the village went through the worst food shortage. It had been many years since the last one, so naturally the people thought the village was okay. But that was clearly not the case. People were dying from starvation almost everyday. But there was also disease. This made it even harder. People, mostly the poor farmers who worked for all the villages' food, were dying at an insane rate.
A poor blacksmith's family was hit badly. They had a son, and a daughter. This meant food was harder and harder to come by. The mother and daughter never got along, but they worked the hardest to find small amounts of food in the forest near the village. But the Son was the golden child. He was the only one to ever eat any food. Then it would be the father, than the mother. But the daughter never got any. She did more work and got nothing for it. This angered the grl.
One day, the mother and daughter were looking for food in the forest. They wanted to find anything to feed their family. Mushrooms, berries, fruit, and even small animals. But there was no luck. Nothing could be found. They had to go home empty handed. This angered the mother. "Why couldn't you look harder. Maybe we would of found something by this point."
"Try asking brother. He was running around and being really loud. He probably scared all the animals away. Try getting him to do something. He needs to learn to work for his food."
"Don't go there. He doesn't need to work, he's too young for that. He needs food and shelter. Something you mistreat."The daughter was enraged. Her mother never asked her selfish brother for anything. He ate all the food and expected everything to be handed to him. This would cause issues for everyone. But the daughter had to suck it up and deal with her brother's entitled behavior. But she hated every moment with them.
After too long, the daughter snapped. She was tired of her family and the lack of food. She knew of a spell. One to do good, but to do bad for one person. That person was her entitled brother. She bought a wind chime from her friend and laid it on the floor. She collected flowers, leaves and other symbols of nature. Blessing the wind chime. She walked to the middle of the town. People stopped and stared as she buried the wind chime and chanted a spell.
Hundreds of years later, the village had never suffered any shortages after that day. People believed the girl had blessed the whole town with the wind chime. Hoping it would bring good luck to the town. And it had truly done so.
