In a time very long ago…
A woman named Gawian was trying to create a new creature. She put in her last ingredient into the pot. Smoke began to rise from the black pot, and upon which, a black egg was formed. Gawian reached in and grabbed the magnificent egg, her eyes widening in amazement. One of her creations had finally worked. At a time like this Gawian wished she had someone, anyone, to share her excitement. But living in a very lonely cave by herself, she had no one to share her creation with. She shook her head sadly. She looked at the over sized egg and wondered what great creature would come of it.
As months passed, Gawian went on with her business, but in the back of her mind she couldn’t help but feel impatient. She waited and waited for the black egg to finally hatch. She sighed, but went on cleaning her cave, she wanted it to be perfect for the creatures arrival. As she was sweeping some dirt up, she heard a noise near the egg. It registered in her mind that it was finally the tenth month. Her heart began to race, and she ran as fast as she could to the egg. It was finally hatching, she thought to herself. She wiped her sweaty palms on her clothing, as she thought of what kind of creature would come out. At last, the creature, popped out of its shell. A creature about two feet tall and black scales and black fur running down its back let out a small screech. Its light brown wings fluttered a little bit. The small creature trotted over to Gawian. She picked him up and clutched him to her chest. “I shall call you ‘A Dragon’ with the name G’Reth.” She said smiling at him.
On the third month of G’Reth’s hatching, Gawian found herself almost out of food for him. He had grown immensely over this time. He was now six feet and was learning to fly. She had taught him many tricks and ways to help them survive. They often went hunting together, though he was a much better hunter already. He learned to pick fruit also, watermelons being his favorite. “G’Reth! Come down here, please.” Gawian called from the grass covered hill she was standing on. G’Reth swooped down, but crashed into the ground with a painful thud, he hadn’t quite got his landings right. He came over to her and nuzzled her hand playfully. She had grown quite fond of him, it gave her the company she had been wanting. She smiled thoughtfully. She realized that she could never give him companionship, not being one of his kind, and decided she would create another, but a girl. She didn’t want him to be lonely like she was.
