I wake up to the annoying beeping of my alarm. I groaned and flutter my eyes open. I grab my phone and shut off the constant beeping. I sigh and rub my eyes, throwing the cover off of me and stretching before marching out of the bed. I walk over to my closet and put on a white summer dress. It was the perfect amount of flow, yet still showed off my body. I smiled at my selection as I stared at myself in the mirror. I sit on the floor and do my makeup, being careful not to get anything on my dress. Most of the items I owned were either thrifted or gifted to me by Mrs. Evergreen before she passed. I sigh as I finish up my makeup. I hated my job, the only reason I even tolerated it was because it paid well. If it wasn't for the pay, I swear I would've quit a long time ago.
I put my makeup away and stand up, dusting myself off and checking one more time to make sure nothing was on the dress. I sat my makeup bag next to my mirror and put on some small heels. The heels on the show was maybe an inch. I swear I would die if I walked in anything taller than that. I giggle as I remember me trying to walk in three inch heels. I do my hair quickly and grab my bag, walking out the door. My job was only a block away, which was really great for me since I didn't have a car. I smile and hum in content as the fresh air hit me. I put my earbuds in and start to listen to some Lo-Fi music. It was my favorite thing to listen to when walking or reading a nice book. I always had a book on my person, sneaking in a paragraph or two when I had time during work.
Soon I reached my place of employment and I went inside, going to my desk and setting everything up nicely. I notice my boss coming towards me I smile,
"Good morning Mr. Graham. Hope everything is well!"
I say politely. He grimaced at my brightful words and slammed a stack of paperwork on my desk.
"These were due last week, what happened Alcatraz?"
I clear my throat and take a good look at the paperwork. He had given me so much last week that I must've forgotten some on my desk over the weekend.
"Ah, I'm so sorry Mr. Graham I will get it to you by the end of the day, I promise"
"I don't want your promises, it better be done or your fired. You're not much more than a coffee girl anyway"
He rolled his eyes after his response and walked away from my desk. I sigh and grabbed the paperwork, way to turn a great day horrible. I grab my pen and start to scribble away, checking boxes and signing my name on lines in horrible cursive. There was truly no way I could get this done by myself. I cursed myself over and over in my head, tears brimming in my eyes. I let out a small whimper and covered my mouth in Embarrassment.

Damiens POV
I watch as my boss scolds the secretary. I hated how he talked to her, and walked all over her. He aways assigned her with so many tasks and always held firing her over her head. I gritted my teeth and mumbled curse words at him quietly. I truly didn't need this job, I made more than enough money for myself in the mafia. But, this job helped hide my cover and made me look like a man who was "contributing to society" I scoffed at the thought. If only people knew what went on behind closed doors. After my boss walked away from her desk she instantly got to work. I heard her manic scribbling and small whimpers from time to time, followed by sniffles. My heart ached as she softly cried. I knew she was trying to hide it but she was truly terrible at doing so. I walked out of my cubicle and to her desk, waiting for her to acknowledge my presence. As soon as she saw me she quickly wiped her eyes and smiled
"How can I help you? Schedule issues? Coffee?"
Her smile falterd a bit as she talked. I shook my head softly and smirked a bit, making her cheeks light up in a light blush.
"No none of that, thank you. I just came to make sure that a beautiful little flower like you wasn't crying."
She shook her head softly, and smiled.
"Thank you, I didn't mean to distract you from your work. I'm sure you're a very busy man."
I chuckled and nodded my head at her words.
"Im more than willing to cancel my plans for a pretty thing like you, doll"
I grabbed her hand softly and placed a soft kiss on it
"How about you accompany me to lunch, hm? We can go to a nice Cafe."
She smiled and nodded her head, accepting my offer
"I'd love to!"
