After every first year had been sorted in their houses Dumbledore started the feast. I was in awe when the food just appeared in front of us. I ended up meeting a kind and funny first-year girl at my table. Her name was Melody Arnshire and her hair was black and her eyes were hazel. We bonded over our mutual dislike of Malfoy. Apparently, her family was close with the Malfoys and she had to grow up with Draco. I felt really bad that she had to endure eleven years of Draco Malfoy before she met someone who shared her hatred for him.

"Hey, Melody," I started talking to Melody.

"Hmm?" She hummed and turned to me with a full mouth. I pointed at the man who was staring at me and Harry earlier who was currently talking to Professor Quirrell.

"Do you know who that teacher talking to Professor Quirrell is?" I asked. She followed my gaze and swallowed.

"Oh yeah, that's Professor Snape. He's actually good friends with the Malfoys as well." She explained.

"What does he teach?" I asked.

"Potions, but I heard that he's been after Quirrell's job for years," Melody explained. I hummed in acknowledgment and went back to eating but was spooked when a translucent figure flew past my face.

"Woah!" I exclaimed and watched the ghostly figures fly around the room. "Ghosts are real?" I questioned.

"Of course ghosts are real," Melody said with an eye roll and a chuckle. "Did you grow up under a rock?" She joked.

"Kinda," I said. "I didn't even know Witches and Wizards were real until a few days ago," I argued.

"Right, because you grew up with an awful muggle family. Are all muggles like that?" Melody asked. When we met she had explained that he was a family of purebloods. I had to ask what that was and then I explained to her that I was raised by the Dursleys and how awful they are.

"No, not all muggles. My aunt and uncle just really hate me and Harry." I explained. "It's like us hating Malfoy except he doesn't live with us and isn't reliant on our ability to provide food and shelter." I tried to put it into some more perspective. She nodded her head in understanding. A hand touched my shoulder and I turned around to find my brother. Harry looked between me and Melody.

"We need to talk." He said.

"Okay." I turned to Melody. "I'll be right back," I told her. She nodded and I stood and followed Harry out the large doors we entered through. "Is everything okay?" I asked him. He turned to me.

"Slytherin, really?" He sassed. My brows furrowed and my arms crossed.

"What's wrong with me being in Slytherin?" I questioned.

"Didn't you hear what Ron said?" He asked.

"I heard what he said and I refuse to agree with him. He may have lived his whole life as a Wizard but I know that it can't be true that every bad Witch and Wizard came from Slytherin. I'm sure there has to have been a bad Gryffindor or Ravenclaw at one point. And I'm going to prove him and you wrong." I ranted. "We may have been together our whole lives but I know that I can handle myself. I'm strong. I'm capable. You worry too much, Harry." I softened my words. I know some of the reason he was angry was because he saw me as weak and helpless. Harry sighed and ran his hands through his hair.

"I just don't want you to be around anyone bad, Y/n. I mean, you're in the same house as that Malfoy boy. I won't be around all the time to protect you." Harry worried.

"Harry, I can handle myself. I already met a really nice Slytherin girl. Her name's Melody, you should meet her sometime." I pushed away Harry's fears. Harry glared at the floor in thought and finally sighed and pulled me into a hug.
