Late at 2:00 am
I had just gotten off stage and was in the car, surrounded by an immense crowd from inside the venue. My arm hung out of the vehicle, shooing some people back away, like I'm not interested, stop already. I don't know why we haven't pulled off yet, but I don't want them to just in case I see what I AM interested in, and I DID, ladies and gentlemen.
"Hi." I made sure I spoke up a little because sometimes I don't. I kept looking, and I just watched her.
She saw me see her, so I wondered why she didn't answer. And my window is down, so what's up? Anyway, I sat up a little, still looking straight at her. I'm going to try this one more time,"Hi." this time, I waved as I said it.
She mouthed "me" as her finger poked her chest slightly, "Yes, me." I nodded as I spoke, still waving for whatever reason. She came forward, stopping short of pressing up against the door,"What's up? you wanna ride with me?" She just looked at me, staying quiet. She would look at me and then look away, which continued until I noticed she was checking out the car. At that point, I pushed the door open,
"You can sit right here." I showed her the expanse of my thighs as I gestured, and that's when she came forward, slowly stepping on the footrest and holding the back of my seat as she maneuvered her body around, carefully placing it on me, sitting comfortably, her hand slipping to the base of my neck, I closed the door shut.
"Now we can go."
Joe turned around in the passenger seat, watching as the girl hopped into the car right behind his seat. He turned around because he had offered to help her, but Top said he had her. He couldn't help but stay turned around and watch the interaction before turning around when the car began moving. Now, everyone had returned to the house and was milling about in the lower level, mainly in the kitchen area, nibbling on the food as it was buffet-style. But babyJoe had chosen a corner of the kitchen to stand and munch on his pieces of food from the plate sitting near him. He had fixated on that spot because he was intrigued by the new addition to their core group. Granted, he was a new addition, too, but he was enamored with the newer addition and couldn't look away. It was to the point where he didn't look away as he grabbed at his food, even grabbing more to stay in the kitchen longer.
Kentrell and Portia had learned her name earlier on the ride home. She checked her purse for her student ID, and he saw her name. Now, the two were chatting and eating near the kitchen counter. They were in their world as they sat side by side, unaware that their conversation included a quiet bystander.
"So, how's class going for you? Which class do you like so far?" Kentrell asked as he sipped his juice, going for apple juice this time.
"It's fine. All my psychology classes are nice, and my chemistry class is too." She answered his question as she saw him smile, listening to her speak.
"Well, do you want food for class because I can wrap you up some food to go?" Kentrell leaped toward the fridge, making Joe move aside as the door opened. Kentrell looked at her, chuckling at her laughing face, "What? What's so funny?" He closed the fridge and came over to her, standing near her. Portia looked up at his face.
"Nothing, I just thought you were adorable just now. That's all." Kentrell couldn't contain his facial expression, and a huge smile spread, followed by a laugh. His eyes glanced in the corner, "Aye, Joe, she got me blushing, dude."
Joe chuckled as he headed to throw his empty plate away. He had expanded his stomach enough, "I see." He couldn't think of what else to do to stay in the kitchen. Kentrell grabbed at his sleeve, "This my new nigga, BabyJoe. He's cool as fuck." Kentrell introduced the two, bringing his friend closer. He is happy to have him in his life. He even went as far as grabbing his arm and hers and making them shake hands with assistance.
"Nice to meet you."
