katya arrived home, happy. an emotion she hasn't felt in such a long time. she kicked her shoes off and plopped down on her couch. she grabbed a bag of chips that was laying there and kicked her feet up on the coffee table. she turned netflix on and settled on an old movie that she's seen at least ten times. her phone dinged and she smiled without even looking at it.

"hey, it's trixie! i just got out of work!"

katya quickly closed her bag of chips and gave her full attention to her phone.

"hi, trixie :) even though i said it before, i'm still sorry for barging into your workplace like that. i feel bad."

"omg, no, don't say that! i enjoyed seeing you today and you are welcome to come visit me anytime i'm free."

katya loved that she could go see trixie, but she was becoming attached way too fast. she felt like a little kid texting her first crush.

crush?

no, definitely not "crush." katya couldn't allow herself to develop feelings for trixie. they don't even know each other and that would be weird.

hours passed by and the two were still texting. katya had discovered that trixie had two older brothers and one younger sister. her favorite color is pink and she's always wanted to be a business woman her whole life. she plans on owning her own cosmetics company some day, but right now she's working at that office building as a designer.

trixie had discovered that katya is actually russian. she has one older brother and one older sister. trixie thought it was crazy that their brother's have the same name. she found herself enjoying katya's company even though it's been a few hours.

there's a part of trixie that katya doesn't know. she's had many nightmares about the scenario she walked in on. she feared that if she walked in any later, katya would've been more severely injured. the image of katya laying on the ground, basically unconscious makes her skin crawl and brings tears to her eyes. nobody deserves to be taken advantage of, especially a sweet girl like katya who just wanted a job.

"would you like to call? i'm in bed now. it's it cringey to say i miss your voice?" trixie texted.

katya was glad trixie was taking the lead in everything because she was too scared to. katya pressed the call button on trixie's contact. it rang twice before katya heard that sweet voice again.

"hello?" trixie said cheerfully.

"hi!" katya responded.

"well, you sound awfully happy." trixie smiled.

"yeah, i guess i do. today's the happiest i've been in awhile." katya said as she pulled her blankets up to her chest.

"that's good, i'm happy for you. hopefully your first impression of me wasn't bad. i fucked up my makeup this morning and tried my best to fix it." trixie laughed.

"i didn't even notice. you're really pretty." katya said.

"awe, thank you. you're quite gorgeous yourself." trixie responded. katya blushed and smiled.

"you are a little flirt, miss mattel." katya giggled.

"miss mattel, hm? didn't know you were into that." trixie joked. katya rolled her eyes.

"you're so stupid. find better pick up lines." katya laughed.

"wait, i got one. if you were a vegetable, you'd be a cutecumber."

"trixie. that was actually the worst thing i've ever heard in my life. you talk like me sixty year old mother."

"excuse me? how rude. i thought it was pretty good." trixie said, pretending to be offended.

"you thought wrong."

"fine then. tell me a better one."

"uhhh, okay let me think. do you like raisins? how do you feel about a date?" katya said, her heart skipping a beat. she can't believe she indirectly asked trixie on a date.

"oh, i get it. that was also terrible, but i like dates and i would like one with you if that's what you're asking me." trixie laughed.

"well, yeah. i was kind of asking." katya said quietly.

"no need to be embarrassed. i'm free this saturday. this might sound corny, but the library is a pretty nice place to be. it had a cute center area where people sit and talk. does that work for you?" trixie asked. katya thought trixie loving the library was the cutest thing ever.

"of course! that sounds amazing."

"okay then. a date it is. i can't wait to see you again." trixie said.

"me either."

"ugh, i have to wake up so early tomorrow for work, so i'm gonna let you go."

"i'll probably wake up early too to go take a walk. i'm weird like that."

"you are a strange one, katya. i'll talk to you tomorrow! goodnight." trixie said with a smile.

"goodnight, trix."

trixie hung up the phone and looked up at the ceiling. something about that nickname made her heart flutter. she liked that katya was weird and different. most of the girls or guys she talked to only wanted her for her body and money. she knew hers and katya's connection ran deeper than that. she set her phone down and tried to go to sleep, but the thought of katya's pretty face kept her up for hours.
