Selene Blackburn sat at her desk, rubbing her temples in an attempt to chase away the headache pounding into her eyes. This had to work. She couldn't think of any other options.

Twenty years. It had been twenty years now since Earth and Luna found peace. And yet they still hated each other. Were still scared of each other. She'd been desperately searching for a solution for years now, and a few days ago an idea sprang to mind. She hadn't brought it up to Kai yet, she wanted to work all the kinks out first.

There was a knock at the door, and she stood to answer. The dark wood paneling was heavy, and the empress was weak from lack of sleep. She pulled it open quick enough, but when she met the eyes of her visitor, she felt drained. She must have looked it too, because the guest grimaced.

"Have you even slept at all in the last week?"

"Good to see you too, Iko," Cinder said with a sigh.

"Oh no that's not what I meant, of course I'm happy to see my best friend!"

"That's not– I didn't– ugh." Cinder's feet felt like bricks as she dragged them over to her desk. Iko, as effortlessly bouncy and peppy as usual, followed her.

"What's this?" the android asked, picking up a piece of paper off the floor, crumbled and rolled into a ball. She found a corner and opened it, smoothing it out as she went. It was scribbled with notes and small sketches.

"Cinder, what is this?" Iko asked. Cinder grabbed the page of notes from her friend.

"Well... you gotta promise to keep it quiet. I haven't told anyone yet. Not even Kai."

Iko nodded eagerly. "Of course!"

"It's my concept plan for true peace between Luna and the Union."

Iko gasped. "Oh Cinder! That sounds... well I'm actually a tad bit confused. Could you maybe clear some stuff up?"

"Yeah, so the general plan is–" Cinder was cut off by the doors opening again. A weary Kai pushed through them, and carefully closed them behind himself. At thirty-eight years old, he could still be considered in his prime of life, despite the stray silver hairs Cinder sometimes caught glimpses of. Faint smile and frown lines were visible on his face if you really looked. His face had matured vastly over the years, and Cinder couldn't help but swoon sometimes when she met his gaze, or he kissed her, despite having been married to the man for seventeen years. She still found him as handsome and charming as the eighteen year old prince she had met in the marketplace.

"Oh, you can just explain it to Kai while explaining it to me!" Iko said with a playful punch to Cinder's shoulder. The cyborg winced. She didn't know if it was quite ready...
