When Yuu was transported into this world, she never pictured herself dating someone. While there were many admittedly attractive people here, she was far too preoccupied with trying to learn how to survive here and managing her new responsibilities as prefect, not to mention practically being the school's unpaid therapist.
Then Floyd came along.
For some reason, she found his eccentricities quite charming. She developed feelings for him and he felt the same way. So they dated.
However, as she lay in Floyd's bed, him cuddling her from behind, she couldn't help but think that maybe they ought not to be dating. For some reason, her feelings for him had taken a dip again. Just moments ago, she was contentedly laying in bed with the love of her life, and now, she was thinking she must have some form of personality disorder that was causing such drastic swings in her mood.
"Ahem." Jade stood in the doorway, a polite smile on his face. "Sorry to interrupt, but Azul would like to have a word with Floyd. Likely about the several sets of silverware he dumped in the tanks."
Yuu let out a laugh, turning to shake Floyd's shoulders gently. "Floyd, wake up."
His eyes opened slightly. "What is it, Shrimpy?"
"Azul wants to talk to you about the silverware you dumped in the tanks."
Floyd pulled her close, shutting his eyes again. "Nah. Don't feel like it."
Jade cleared his throat again, causing Floyd to glare at him with annoyance. "You've already been ignoring his texts, Floyd. He's not above coming here himself and dragging you out if you refuse to cooperate."
A deep groan escaped Floyd as he slowly rose. "I'm gonna squeeze his neck," he growled before slamming the door shut, leaving Jade hovering near the door and Yuu left forgotten on his bed.
Giving Yuu another smile of acknowledgment, he took off his hat and sat at his desk. Yuu awkwardly sat on Floyd's bed, unsure of whether or not she should stay or go. She resigned to making Floyd's bed for him and cleaning up his area while he was away; she knew he had a system and everything was organized in his mind, but surely the empty candy wrappers on the floor were not a part of that.
Her mind wandered as she tidied up his area. Honestly, she did want to go. She felt like an impostor. One moment, she was so deeply in love with and devoted to him, and the other, she would rather him simply be a friend. It was so bizarre, and it was all in her head and made her feel like a horrible person who was toying with his feelings. Even with his constant mood swings, he always loved her consistently. That was the one thing she was sure of.
"It seems as though something's bothering you," Jade spoke, puncturing the silent atmosphere.
She eyed him warily. "What makes you say that?" Jade couldn't read minds, right?
He let out a soft chuckle through his nose. "Just a hunch." He turned away from his work and smiled at her, the smile he gave customers at the Mostro Lounge after swindling them without their knowing. "I'd be happy to listen to any of your woes if you're willing to talk to me."
"Yeah, I'm sure you would be," she laughed drily in response. "Thanks, but no thanks."
His grin widened ever so slightly, showing off his menacingly sharp teeth. This interaction was only growing more and more interesting. "Oh, but are you sure? I'm simply offering to speak as a friend. Though... it may be that you don't wish to confide in me because you're having troubling thoughts you'd rather not come to light. Perhaps thoughts about a certain relationship of yours?"
"Or perhaps you're just reading too much into things," Yuu retorted quickly, though her heart thumped faster at how accurately he had hit the nail on the head.
