Chapter Four: Moving On

"His name will be Mheetu, and he will grow to be very strong" Nova purred barely glancing up to see Scar, and Zira's cub Nuka attempt to come over to see the new cub "Little Nuka this is Mheetu I want you to be nice to him alright?" Nova mrowed smiling as he nodded vigorously and his mother came over "Congratulations Nova'' Zira said carefully since things had still been awkward between them but they had decided to consider things cool between the two of them "Thank you Zira he grow up to be great and strong one day" Nova replied nodding "Just like his mother" Sentwali purred nudging her cheek with his nose his turquoise eyes shimmering "Thanks Sentwali" Nova purred blushing barely noticing Scar glaring at them with jealousy "He's beautiful Nova" Scar said still glaring at Sentwali "Thank you Scar" Nova said as Mheetu chirped and curled up at his mother's side "I'm gonna get you something to eat okay Nova?" Sentwali said, smiling and trotted off."Thanks." She called after him "Nova...I was wondering...um you never told me why you were so mad at me and Zira'' Scar said carefully, still watching her "Scar...you really still don't get it?" Nova asked, shaking her head and licking little Mheetu's head as he shifted slightly in his sleep. "No, what did I miss?" Scar asked frustrated at himself "I liked you...and then you went off with Zira...I hated it I had known you longer and she had just met you and already you guys liked each other...I was jealous and mad that she had taken you from me...that sounds selfish I guess but that's my reason" Nova muttered attempting to hide how jealous she still was despite having a family of her own "Oh Nova...I'm so sorry" Scar murmured his ears pinned back in shame "Don't be...I'm with Sentwali now" Nova offered though still felt jealous at Scar, and Zira "Well if it makes you feel better...I'm maybe...jealous of Sentwali" He mumbled surprised at how true it was "But you're with Zira'' Nova said frowning surprised "Well...I'll tell her I want to be with you...like I always have" Scar mumbled embarrassed "What?...What did you say?" Nova asked, surprised."You heard me...I've always liked you, " Scar said in his normal voice, looking up to see her still trying to process what he was saying."What about Nuka?" Nova asked finally worried about the young cub "He wasn't actually our son...he was the cub of a friend, who asked us to take care of him for a little while but he'll go back to his father soon" Scar said shrugging "Okay..." She said, wondering why they didn't mention this to her "Well what about Mheetu? He actually is mine and Sentwali's son, " Nova said, frowning, knowing it would be difficult for her young little cub to know that Scar wasn't his father but another lion whom she had liked but to be honest was never her first option then looked down at her small cub and licked his head as he shifted in his sleep "I'll love him as though he was my own" Scar promised "But he's too young to know his real father" Nova pointed out "Then we can tell him plenty of stories" Scar said not liking it but knew that the cub deserved to know who his real father was "...Alright...I'll tell Sentwali..." Nova said, frowning slightly unsure how she was going to tell him."Tell me what?" He asked trotting up to them and looked back and forth between Scar and Nova."I...um..." She started,"I asked her to be my mate, " Scar stated."But I'm her mate, " Sentwali growled, his tail twitching irritably. "Sentwali relax." Nova tried to tell him worried that the two would fight."What's going on?" Zira asked, trotting over to them confused."Scar asked Nova to be his mate, " Sentwali growled."Is it true?" Zira asked, looking hurt."Yes...I've always liked her..mi just didn't want to admit it, " Scar said, his ears flattened in shame "Well...if that's how you really feel" Zira mumbled shocked "Nova...do you still like Scar?" Sentwali asked, unable to look at her "I....yes" She mumbled, looking down at Mheetu, who was awake now and looked up at his mother."Why? How in all the Pridelands could you possibly still like him?!" He growled."Watch it, Sentwali, " Scar growled, stepping in front of Nova protectively as the rest of his Lion guard came over to see what was wrong. "What's going on?" They asked."He won't accept that Nova likes me better and wants to be with me still," Scar growled.
