Wei Ying’s class had just ended, and his stomach was growling. He headed toward the college canteen, hoping to grab something warm to eat.
Balancing his lunch on a tray, he made his way toward an empty table — but just as he turned the corner, bump— his tray collided straight into someone’s chest.
Splash. Soup. All over a white shirt. Wei Ying gasped.
Wei Ying: “I’m sorry! I’m so sorry, ge! I didn’t mean to!”
He looked up — and froze.
It was Lan Zhan. And his shirt was completely soaked.
Before Wei Ying could panic further, two boys standing behind Lan Zhan glared at him.
Lan Zhan’s friend 1: “Are you blind or what??”
Friend 2: “Seriously, why do people like him always end up bumping into us…?”
Lan Zhan’s eyes narrowed slightly. Lan Zhan: “Leave. I want to talk to him. Alone.”
The two friends exchanged looks but walked away.
Wei Ying bit his lip, eyes full of panic.
Wei Ying: “I really didn’t see you coming, ge. I swear, it wasn’t on purpose…”
Lan Zhan didn’t look angry. Lan Zhan: “Are you hurt?”
Wei Ying: “Huh? Oh—no, I’m fine. But your shirt… I’m worried about you. Can I clean it for you?”
Lan Zhan nodded once. Lan Zhan: “Let’s go to the washroom.”
---
Inside the washroom, Wei Ying looked at Lan Zhan’s soaked shirt and then at him.
Wei Ying: “Ge… give me your t-shirt.”
Lan Zhan had been silently watching him the whole time, eyes unreadable.
Lan Zhan: “Hm? Oh… right.” He snapped out of his thoughts and handed it over.
Wei Ying carefully rinsed the shirt in the sink, wiping off the soup with gentle dabs. A few droplets splashed onto his own face, sliding down his cheek.
Lan Zhan’s breath caught.
Lan Zhan (inside): Don’t stare. Just don’t stare. If I keep watching him like this, I’m going to kiss him. He turned his head and exhaled deeply.
A few minutes later—
Wei Ying: “Done! But… it’s still wet, ge. What should we do now?”
Lan Zhan: “Don’t worry. I’ll call my brother — he’ll bring me another one.”
Wei Ying (inside): Then why didn’t you just do that from the start? I didn’t need to wash it… What’s with this guy?
Lan Zhan: “You can go now, Wei Ying.”
Wei Ying: “Alright then, I’ll leave now, ge.”
As Wei Ying stepped out of the washroom, he bumped straight into someone else. Again.

Wei Ying (inside): Are you kidding me?! Why do I keep bumping into people?! What kind of unlucky day is this?!
He looked up.
A tall, handsome boy blinked at him. His eyes sparkled with mischief.
???: “Hey. You’re in my class, right?”
Xu Yang (inside): Wow… he’s even more beautiful up close. I’ve seen him in class before, but he looks like an angel in person.
Wei Ying: “You know me? I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to bump into you either…”
The boy chuckled.
???: “Don’t worry, I’m not mad. Can I be your friend? I know you probably have a lot of friends already, but I still want to know you.”
Wei Ying blinked, surprised. Then smiled.
Wei Ying: “Sure. But… can I call you ge too? I don’t know your name…”
???: “Call me Xu Yang. Or Yang Yang, if you want.”
