Chapter 2: The First Sparks

"Can someone without a quirk be a hero like you?" This caused All Might to stop and look at Izuku as he poured his feelings and heart into this one question. The rooftop was silent, as the two awaited the symbol of peace's answer.

"Without a Quirk..." He asks before suddenly hunching over. Steam emitted from his body as he shook in pain. This went unnoticed by Izuku as he was still talking to himself and Shinya who listened to Izuku pouring his heart out to his childhood hero.

"Maybe it's because I'm quirkless, or perhaps there are other reasons. I've been a laughing stock. Maybe it's this... and i'm not sure either. Shinya is one of the only people who encouraged me to follow my dream and stood up for me."

Izuku said as he reminisced about Shinya and him. He would always protect Izuku whenever he was around, even going so far as to fight for him. As he continued his talk, Shinya saw a strange smoke screen coming from All Might's direction. The amount of smoke got larger and larger as it covered All Might's body.

"...Izuku?" Shinya said, trying to get his attention. Izuku continued talking.

"I think that saving others is just about the coolest thing you can do. The way you save people with that fearless smile. I want to be the strongest hero, just like you!" Izuku said with excitement, his eyes shining like stars." When the smoke cleared, the place where the symbol of peace stood was replaced with a skeleton looking man with an oversized shirt that All Might wore. The only similarities he shared with the No.1 hero was his hair and eye color. Both boys stood there in shock. Eventually, Izuku broke the silence by screeching.

"...What the HELL?!" Shinya yelled out in surprise. The man had turned from a 7'3 behemoth of a human being, to a walking corpse. "You're all shriveled up! Were you a fake! An imposter?! You're so thin!" Izuku yelled at the man while looking around for All Might.

"I am All Might-" The walking skeleton tried to speak but ended up spitting out an unhealthy amount of blood.

"NO WAY!" Izuku shrieked so loudly that Shinya had to cover his ears.

"Just like those who suck their stomach in to show abs in the swimming pool, I'm like that." All Might explained while wiping the blood from his mouth. "NO WAY!" Izuku shrieked again, which annoyed Shinya to the point of forcibly shutting his friends mouth, keeping it there until he finally had calmed down.

"All Might is fearless. He saves people with a smile, he's the strongest." Izuku tried to understand what was happening, something that Shinya was also poorly doing.

"A fearless smile, huh?" All Might looks down before sitting down and leaning on the railing. "You've seen the real me, kids. Don't write about it on the internet, okay?"

"What the hell...is it like a part of your quirk or something?" Shinya asked, curious about the man's state. All Might pulled up his shirt, revealing a sight that causes both Shinya and Izuku to flinch. A sick feeling entered Shinya's stomach. Under his shirt was a large surgical scar littered with stitches that covered the entire left side of his body.

"5 years ago, an enemy did this to me. My respiratory system was nearly destroyed and my stomach was removed. I've wasted away because of the after effects of those surgeries. I can only do my hero work for about 3 hours a day now." All Might explained, sounding depressed because of his circumstances.

"That does explain the amount of time he's on TV." Shinya thought. 5 years ago, after a strange disappearance, he seemed to be fine. However, as time went on, the amount of time Shinya had seen him on screen lessened and lessened. Now there was only a news report on him every day or so. Shinya didn't notice it, chalking it up to other topics and whatnot.
