It was Monday morning, the sun was shining and I had already woken up before my alarm was going to. After my alarm went off, I got out of bed and went to Georgie's room. Georgie's my five-year-old sister. Apart from a few details on our faces, we look nothing alike. Georgie has light brown (almost honey coloured) curly hair, pale skin and green eyes. her teeth were a little uneven but apart from that, everyone thinks she's "unbelievably adorable". It's really hard to believe that Georgie and I are related if you see us for the first time, but once you look closely enough and get to know us, you'll see how close Georgie and I are, then you'll know we're related. I love her to bits and I would never let anything hurt her. If she wanted something, I'd get it for her. She's kind of spoilt by me. "Sleeping beauty," I whispered, "your prince has come to wake you up". I kissed her on the cheek. Her eyes were still shut but I knew she was awake. I kissed her again. "Oh, I see the magic isn't working. Want me to get the big evil troll called dad to wake you up?" I said, jokingly. "No! Look I'm awake!" she said and jumped out of bed. I laughed. She hated being woken up dad because he always threatened "the bucket". Cold water poured over her head to finally open her eyes. He only did it once but it scared her enough. It was on the day of her class play. She didn't want to because she was extremely nervous but dad made her. She got up on stage and she stared at dad. I saw him do something with his arms and later I realized that he was making a 'throwing water out of a bucket' motion, which made Georgie try a lot harder. Georgie gave me a big hug. "You're leaving today aren't you?" she said sounding sad. "Yeah," I hugged her back, "don't worry though, it's not for long. 5 days isn't long and I'll be back before you know it". I tried to sound reassuring but I could tell by the way she was huggging me that she was going to miss me a lot. I was leaving for a five-day trip to the country where my class are going to just have fun before our big exams. I pulled away from the hug and gave her a reassuring smile. She smiled back but I could tell she was trying to force back tears. "C'mon, go get ready to go to school" I said and made my way to do so myself. I got to the bathroom, brushed my teeth and washed my face. Unlike anyone in my family, I have bluey-purpley eyes. I got my dark hair from my mum and my dimples from my dad. And there's a reason why my mum and I are the only tanned, dark haired ones in our family. Something Georgie doesn't know about. Can't know about. My mum and I are Wieres'. We can shift between the form of human and Wieres. Or wolf. It's very unusual for a family with a Wieres to have a second child but that's just what my mum's like. She's unique. She's the only female Howla. A Howla is an amazing Wieres. They are natural leaders. Extremley strong too. Mum thought she could never find a husband and settle down until she met my dad. He's a normal human but none like mum had ever seen. He could endure mum's strength. He was far stronger than any human. Weaker than Wieres', but strong enough to keep mum. My mum and I are the only Wieres' in our family. Gerogie's like a little girl version of dad. Ironically though, I look a lot like my dad even though I got most of my features from my mum. Most girls at my school at my think I'm really good looking and they're stalkers. Seriously, they have pictures of me, in their lockers. It's creepy but kind of amusing. I got dressed in my comfortable jeans and my checked t-shirt. I took longer than I usually did. I picked up my packed bag and went downstairs. Mum was making me breakfast and dad was talking to Georgie, who looked like she'd just cried her eyes out. She saw me coming down the stairs and looked even more upset. I put my bags down and ran over to her. I picked her up and hugged her tightly and she hugged me back. "Aw, Georgie, have you been crying?" I aksed her in a slightly mocking tone. I could feel her head move side to side. "Don't lie. Were you crying?". Her head moved up and down. I pulled her away, still holding her in my arms. "Georgie, don't cry. I won't be gone for that long. It's only a couple of days. Promise. I promise I'll buy you something while I'm there". Her face suddenley lit up when I said that. "Really?" she said. "Really" I promised. She started talking about all the details about what she wanted. I didn't really pay attention. I was only paying attention to her cute little face, smiling, and thought about how much I was going to miss her. "...But I'd prefer if you got me a bracelet. Something nice that will remind me of you, ok?" I heard her say. "Yeah sure" I said, snapping out of my daze. Before I left, I kissed Georgie and mum on the cheek and gave them each a hug. I gave dad an awkward hug. It was wierd hugging my dad. We were close, but only when it came to manly stuff. Not things like hugging, things I's usually do with my mum and sister. I walked to school. It was a nice day. I took my usual route, round the long way. I went past the old church and I stopped by to say goodbye to my granddad, the town vicar. Granddad always took me fishing when I was a little boy. It was fascinating to watch how patient he was. And all the time, his patience paid off and he used to catch all kinds of fish. Nowadays, granddad doesn't take me fishing that often and I pretend I don't care but actually, I love it when he takes me, even thought it is only a few times a month. "Take care Lucas!" shouted granddad as I walked out. "You too granddad!" I shouted back. Then I headed to school.
