This is the end
I've drowned and dreamt this moment
So overdue, I owe them
Swept away, I'm stolen
Let the skyfalls, And it crumbles
We will stand tall & face it all together-skyfall,
AdeleBeeping noises, bright lights and a few people talking made Jia wake up. She squinted her eyes for a few seconds to adjust to the lightning around her. Her head started aching as soon as she opened her eyes fully.
"Jia.." A soft voice called in relief. "Dad.." Jia's voice was hoarse and she struggled talking due to her dry throat. Her father helped her slowly sit upright and offered her a glass of water. A doctor soon arrived for a check up, followed by two police officers.
"Hi Jia." The doctor smiled at the girl who gave no reaction. "I need you to talk. Are you awake?" She started off asking obvious question to check Jia's consciousness. Jia answered with a yes. "Are you feeling hurt anywhere?" She asked. "Headache." Jia replied shortly. "Stop messing with the IV." Her dad ordered which quickly made her let go. "Okay do you feel you can talk to the police?" The doctor asked offering her some pills. She took the pills and agreed to talk.
"Are you feeling better now?" One of the officer asked, he looked like the same age as her father. Jia nodded slowly. "Okay I know I shouldn't be doing it this early but I seriously need to know what happened to you as I have to give a report to higher ups." The officer talked in a casual voice to help Jia feel comfortable. "Woo- " Jia started coughing. She drank water once again and got down to speak. "I don't remember..." She said.
"It's okay. You can comfortably talk." The other female officer suggested. Jia's dad held her palms tightly to comfort her. "I truly don't remember... I know I was running on the street when something hit the back of my head and I passed out." Jia spoke what she remembered.
The doctor standing beside Jia sighed as she turned to explain things to others, "Looks like Song Jia got post-traumatic amnesia. It's a state where a person has no memory of the accident due to brain injury. It is very common among car accident cases." Both the police officers sighed in defeat and Jia's dad was worried but also grateful that she didn't completely lose her memory. "Okay we will take our leave then. I hope you contact us if you remember anything. Get well soon." The officer patted Jia's head and handed her dad his card.
"You can try to walk around and stay active if you want to, though you can't stress too much. You're head thankfully only had external injury so it can heal quickly. Incase you're walking out don't remove the IV for now." The doctor explained to Jia before leaving.
As they left Jia saw two kids standing near the door frame. "Si Eun..." She spoke so softly that only she could hear it. "Ah you must be Si Eun right, and Young Yi? I'll leave you to talk to her. Call me if something happens." Jia's dad politely excused himself out.
Young Yi came running and hugged the injured girl tightly, crying on her shoulder. "What happened to you.. I was so worried... I'm glad you're conscious now..." Young Yi sobbed. Jia hugged her back and smiled at her words.
Jia looked up to see Si Eun who was also sobbing silently. "Si Eun.." she called him and hugged him too, this time she cried on his shoulder. "Please I thought you'll die." He said seriously. "Honestly me too." She joined in. "I'm so sorry for not being there with you." Si Eun apologized. "I'm glad you weren't." Jia expressed her relief. "Look at you. You look like a marshmallow." Si Eun joked referring to the bandages all around her head and her ear.
Young Yi went out saying she wanted to buy something for Jia. Si Eun and Jia sat on the bed quietly for some minutes.
"Who did this.." Si Eun asked. Jia avoided eye contact and Said him she doesn't remember any of it. "Jia.." he seriously turned to her and held her face tightly between his palms. "What you did with the police right now.. I did that on the incident on Soo Ho's birthday too so I know this trick. You don't have to lie to me." Si Eun made himself clear. He moved his face closer as their foreheads were in contact. Jia closed her eyes, contemplating whether she should speak or continue with her lie.
