The daycare was the LAST place Darius wanted to go.

The black-haired boy pouted in the backseat of his mom's car, staring out the window as he complained about how much this would suck. "I don't wanna goooo, Mooooommm!! I'm too OLD for daycare!"

"Relax my son," his mom responded. "You're not too old for daycare. No one there is! You're gonna be just fine!"

"I don't WANNA BE FINE, MOM!" Darius suddenly snapped, snarling his teeth like a wolf pup. "I wanna be EMO! Emos don't go to daycares, Mom! Emos get neglected and their parents do dwugs!"

"Well, Darry-Boo, you won't be complaining for long then," his mother sighed. There was gray in her eyes as she drove along the dirt wood, towards the daycare building that was in the middle of nowhere.

They were miles from the city and miles from any town. Just from Darius' home, it had been an hour-long drive. He had been to daycare lots before so his mom could work, but he had never gone to this one before.

Soon enough, Darius's mom pulled up beside the daycare. It was a large, wide, and tall multicolored building with windows in all sorts of uneven places. At the door, there was a kind-looking woman with long black hair. And though she looked young, there were several streaks of gray in her hair. There was the distant sound of rowdiness from inside the daycare; it was so loud that Darius could hear it before his mom dragged him out of the backseat.

"Ohhhh, welcome honeyy!" The woman greeted them as she approached the kicking and screaming Darius. "My name's Evangeline. It's so great to..."

"WAGH! WAGH!! I DON'T! WANNA GO!" Darius yelled. He proceeded to fight his mother's motions to calm him, and his mother gave the woman an awkward smile.

"I-I'm sorry, Evangeline. He's not usually like this, he's just..."

"EMO! I'M EMOOOO!"

"Emo..." His mother said with some sweat.

Evangeline clasped her hands together and smiled. "Oh! He's... oh, that's greaaat..!" She chuckled. "He's bound to make lots of, um, friends here, I'm sure! Actually, there's a girl who's just like him inside-"

"GIRL?!" Darius exclaimed, whipping his head towards the new woman.

"U-uh... yes! There is! She's also got a black dragon hoodie and, uh, a taste for darker colors!" Evangeline explained with a smile. "Everyone's waiting inside and ready to play. If I could just have your name, sweetie--?"

"DARIUS!!!" His cheeks burned pink. "My name is Darius, now lemme in, let me in!"

"Darren," his mother answered the woman tiredly. Darius looked at her with an unhappy expression at the sound of his real name. Oh, how he hated it! Why did she have to use his real name?!

"MOOOOM! I TOLD YOU--!"

"And last name?" Evangeline asked, tapping into an iPad.

"Greenyweeny," said his mom.

Darius stamped his feet. "MOOOM! MOOOMM!!!--"

"Alright, sweetie, have fun! I'll pick you up, uh... at some point!" His mom bid, speedily walking back towards the car. Darius kept shouting at her as she went, until she sped off down the road, nearly swerving into the forest.

Darius looked up at Evangeline and she looked at him.

"You ready to go inside?"

"I want to meet the emo girl!" Darius stated. "OPEN THE FRIGGING DOOR SO I CAN MEET HER!!"

"Oh-oh! Uh, uh, alright, honey!" Evangeline jolted before getting the door and opening it.
