It was a common Wednesday... probably. I mean, not that time and its passing could be understood with ease. In that place, all days were the same, more or less. But the date on the pad indicated that it was Wednesday, so Wednesday it was. The cafeteria of the school was always populated, due to people having pauses from lessons or waiting for the beginning of their academic day, but at lunch time, it was always full. It didn't matter how many people were outside with a sandwich or similar, all the tables were always going to be full. Both the ones on the ground that the ones floating through the air. A controlled kind of chaos was reigning, and students were happily talking about basically everything while eating. Speedsters were running all around, taking orders for all their friends at their table, and teleporters and telekinetic students were helping as well. Of particular interest were a couple of speedsters, probably from the third year, playing at chess at superspeed, while another girl with eyes of two different colors and a long earring on her left ear was writing notes on her personal notebook. The two speedsters were clearly siblings, you could tell by their similar brunette hair color and the form of their faces, even though they were a boy and a girl. Those, and the fact that they were both moving at superspeed. They were playing frenetically, and their silent tension was broken by the other's girl voice, saying with meditative tone -Sebastian, by moving your horse in that position, you'll lose in 45 moves- -You're neither looking at the chessboard or a speedster, so how can you know that?- was the boy's answer, while he was growing more and more concerned by his game. A few fast movements later, and his king fell off the chessboard -Well, I guess she was right- stated with a large smile the girl who had just taken the win, while her brother was snorting out of annoyance. The girl with the earring just raised her left hand, without taking off her eyes from her page, and the girl with superspeed gave her a high five -Ok, ok, you have won- said Sebastian with his mouth still a bit crooked from the loss, before whispering -For the eighth time straight-. He probably had thought that nobody could have heard him, out of all the chaos that was surrounding them, but his hopes were soon shattered by the voice with the same tone of before -That was actually her ninth victory-, at which Sebastian rose his arms with an expression that was a mix of confusion and trigger -How did you manage to listen to me from that far in this chaos, Avalon?- -I don't need to listen to you, I know that you tend to lower down the number of your losses, especially when you lose against Nora- was her answer, at which for the first time she decided to avert her eyes from the notes she was writing to take a look at his expression confused. She secretly loved to tease him, she found him so cute when he was triggered. But of course Sebastian didn't know that, so he just nodded his head with disbelief. Nora, on the other hand, was smiling happily, before asking her brother -Hey, the fight made me hungry. The loser takes the snacks, remember?- -Yeah, yeah...- was his answer before he stormed out from his seat at superspeed. His trail of lightning passed right down a big window, where a trio of people were chilling and eating some food.
Two boys were sitting right on the edge, and a girl was attached to the wall right next to them. One of the two boys was tossing a coin in his right hand, catching it without looking at it. He had light brown hair, blue eyes and a very strong jawline. All of them were probably in their fourth year. -So, do we know when we're gonna go?- asked the boy with the coin -Absolutely not, but I can't fucking wait anymore- replied the girl. She had blond hair and blue eyes, and she was dressed in black, but with a white skirt. By the look on her face, she looked either annoyed or unamused. -Did you recover from the injury?- continued the first boy, holding his coin in his hand -I have no injury, Daniel- was her immediate answer, and to prove it, she rose one of her hands, and a white tendril formed in her hand, assuming the form of a thorn -Care for me to show you?- -No, no, don't worry. I know perfectly how you can use those- -I guess it's a thing that comes from my father...- she stated with her tendril disappearing, reabsorbed right under her skin. -Right, never mess with the big symbiote monster...- continued Daniel, but she had already lost interest in what he was saying, too focused on her own powers, that still couldn't control at her finest, even if she acted like she could. The third boy, that had been silent for all the time, tilted his head a little, and settled down better, his red hair perfectly combed and his green eyes now perfectly visible. -I guess we'll just have to wait- he stated without changing expression, remaining calm and reflective. Both of the other guys silently looked at him, while he continued -But I don't know why, I feel like today might be the day- -If you say so, Heinrich- replied Daniel with an half laugh, snorting while he looked at the people right below him. -So, what the fuck are we going to do in the meantime?- asked the girl after a few seconds of silence. The redhaired boy turned his head a little, putting a soft smile while looking at her -The thing we do best, Alice- was his answer. And the warm smile that came on her face proved him that he chose the right answer. Calming down Alice was no joke, but he always had a way with words, especially with her. The daughter of Venom had probably grown fond of him during the years.
