I groan and roll over, putting a pillow over my head to try to drown out the insufferable pound at the front door down stairs. This is so not helping my pounding head ache, I think to myself.
God, where is mom or dad? Can't one of then get the door? I mean I had a huge fight with the one girl that I truly care about and didn't get to sleep till four in the morning and I JUST WANT TO FUCKING SLEEP!
"MOTHER FUCKER!" I yell as I roll out of the bed. I rub the sleep from my eyes as I stumble down the stairs and rench open the door.
"Brandon! Thank god!" Mrs. Miller gasp and puts her hand to her chest, right over her heart. I squint against the sun light to see Mr. Miller standing behind her, worry lines creasing his usually flawless face.
"What's up, Mrs. Miller? Mr. Miller?" I ask, a feeling of dread sinking in the pit of my stomach. Something's happened.
"Have you talked to or seen Casey?" Mrs. Miller ask in a small voice.
"Um, not since last night." I say, shaking my head. The memories of Casey and I fighting come flooding back. Her yelling at me and stomping out of the house. I should've gone after her.
"Do you know where she could've gone?" Mr. Miller ask. I look into his kind blue eyes and feel my heart sink in my chest. Please let Casey be okay. Maybe she went to Jessika's house.
"She could've gone to Jessika's house. But that's a really far walk."
"We already called Jessika's mom. Casey didn't stay there last night." Mr. Miller said shaking his head and wrapping his arms around Mrs. Miller.
"Did you try calling her?"
"She left her phone laying on her bed last night."
"Did you call the police?" I ask, I look at Mrs. Miller when she lets out a sob and covers her mouth. I bite my lip and pray. I pray that Casey is okay and well and I pray that she'll be home soon. I pray with all my heart and soul that Casey is safe. I can't lose her.
"I'm calling them now." I watch Mr. Miller pull out his phone and dial the number.
"Would you like some tea? Coffee?" I ask Casey's mom. It's weird seeing her cry. I'm use to seeing her happy, her cheeks a rosy red and her face vibrant and happy.
"Yes. Thank you." Mrs. Miller sniffles. I give her a small smile as I step out of the way for Casey's parents so they can come inside. I sigh as I shut the door and follow them into the kitchen.
I remember the last time Casey's parents were here. It was during the summer and my parents were having a BBQ. Casey and her family came over and so did Jessika's. We all ate ribs or cheese burgers and ate s'mores for dessert, but with chocolate chip cookies instead of gram crackers. It was a lot of fun, those were some of the best times the three of us had. Now we may never have them again.
No! Casey's okay. She has to be. Everybody loves Casey! She was so sweet and vibrant. Always talking to everybody in school no matter how mean they could be. She never hated anyone. When she would walk into a room everybody would stop what they were doing and look at her. And her eyes. Her gorgeous sea blue eyes made everything so much better. Her eyes where better then looking up into a starry night.
"Did Casey come over here last night?" Mrs. Miller ask as she sits at the breakfast bar and watches me make some herbal tea.
"Yeah. She came over here to tell me about you two fighting and we ended up getting into a huge fight. She stormed out of the house. " I turn around and hand Casey's mom a mug of steaming Herbal tea. "Sugar? Milk?"
"Honey and sugar please." I nob my head and grab the honey from the fridge and put it in the microwave for a couple seconds before handing it to Mrs. Miller. I lean up against the counter and watch her poor in a couple spoon fills of honey and some sugar before stirring and take a sip.
"My mom says tea fixes everything. From heart break to sleepless nights." I smile and shake my head.
"We'll for sleepless nights maybe. But for broken hearts I would go with chocolate." Casey's mom smiles and takes another sip of tea.
"The police are on their way." Mr. Miller says, hanging up his phone as he walks into the kitchen.
"They're going to want to talk to all of us." Mr. Miller says while looking at me. I nob my head and cast my eyes down to the floor. Please let this be a bad dream. Please let me wake up and Casey be sleeping in her own bed.
