"Christabel... Connor never came back from hunting last night." Those were the words that Christabel had dreaded ever having to hear. Those were the words that made everything come crumbling down for her.

Connor was missing. He never came back.

Was it possible that he had finally tired of her, and decided he didn't want to be with her anymore? Sure. But something deep inside of her said differently. This wasn't just one of those days where Connor decided to just... go out on his own, no. This was something more than that. And Christabel felt like an idiot for not noticing any sooner that something was up.

Connor had been distant lately, from all of them. Not to mention, strange messages had been arriving to the house for the past few weeks. But why was it only effecting Connor and not any of the others? That was the question that Christabel had continued to ask her self. Why Connor?

"Is it possible that he's just out on one of his little adventures? We all know how Connor is.." Duncan spoke up as his other brothers started to file into the room. It was Liam who had told Christabel the news, and aside from Helena, she was the first to know.

"No, you idiot. Since when has Connor ever been gone this long?" Quinn said next. Obviously Quinn was upset; him and Connor were probably the closest, due to them being twins. And if anyone could tell when something was going wrong with Connor, it was Quinn. Though the two were complete opposites, and Quinn was a bit on the arrogant side, it didn't necessarily mean that he was completely oblivious.

By this time, just about everyone bickering about what could have possibly happened to Connor. But Christabel stayed silent. What exactly could she say? If she even spoke, she'd more than likely burst into tears.

"We should have expected something to go wrong, we should have noticed something was up weeks ago." Liam had said, his hands running down his face.

It was obvious that everyone was effected. Who wouldn't be? Connor was one of the youngest. They were all protective of him, simply because he was the hacker of the family. Weren't hackers seen as like... weak or something?

"I noticed.." Christabel said, speaking up after what seemed like forever. But it was obvious no one heard her. Sighing quietly, she spoke up again, in a louder tone. "I noticed." That seemed to have gotten their attention. "I noticed weeks ago that something seemed off with him. I figured it was because he hadn't fed... and I.. I should have told one of you, but he insisted he was fine." She said, staring at her hands, a few more tears falling down her cheeks. "Something was wrong with him, and now he's gone." Before she knew it, the tears were evident as she wiped at her eyes and she could feel arms wrap around her. As she looked up, she noticed it was Duncan.

"Don't blame yourself, yeah? He had us all fooled.." He whispered to her, trying to comfort her.

Christabel leaned into Duncan slowly, still crying silently to herself and wiping at her eyes every now and then. In a way, Duncan was right. He did have them all fooled. But, then again, they were his family; shouldn't they have noticed at least one thing was off? Not to mention, Christabel did blame herself. She should have came to them with the knowledge she had, and maybe then they could have done something, even run a few tests. If so, then this whole situation could have been avoided, and Connor would still be here.

"We'll arrange a search party tomorrow, but for now we all need sleep. Duncan and Marcus will keep an eye on Christabel. The rest of you just keep your eyes open." Helena commanded. Sometimes it was as if she was the alpha in this family. And in a way, she was.

Great. Christabel thought, I have babysitters.

And with all that being said, Christabel got up, going up to the room that her and Connor once shared. She could do this, right? She could stand aside and watch as they tried to find him.

But deep down, Christabel knew that she'd only get in the way if she stayed. She was just an obstacle, nothing more. So maybe it would all be easier if she just.... left.
