After they all processed what had happened, John b rushed everyone into the van so they could go somewhere. John b didn't tell them where they were going he just said that they needed to leave.
Savannah was still in shock over the rooster. Was she being dramatic? She didn't think so, but maybe. In her defence, if she was being dramatic, she had a right to be upset about it. She loved the rooster more than she loved herself. When she met John b, pope, and JJ she instantly fell in love with the rooster. When she asked John b what his name was and he told her he didn't have one she named it.
She didn't know why she loved the rooster so much but she did. Maybe because when she saw it walking around alone it reminded her of herself. John b only had the one rooster so he was alone, like her. He stayed outside at all times like she had stayed in her room at all times.
JJ had felt horrible about killing the rooster but it was either the roosters life or theirs. He knew he was going to make it up to her. He didn't know how but he was, even though he knew she was going to tell him that "she was fine" and that pickles was "just an animal" he knew pickles meant more to her than what she made it seem.
After John b explained that the compass was a message from his dad and that he thinks the message is supposed to lead him somewhere they pulled up to redfield lighthouse. They all got out and looked up at the light house.
John b turned to face pope and JJ who were standing beside each other and Savannah who was sitting on the floor of the van with her legs hanging out. She had an emotionless expression on her face from holding her emotions in like always. They all knew what she was doing but didn't say anything about it cause they didn't want to upset her more than she was.
"You're gonna post up and look out for bogeys, okay?" John b said pointing at JJ "Wait... Why me?" JJ asked looking at the three "Because you're not coming." Pope said "Why?" JJ asked again "There are independent and dependent variables. You're independent. We don't know what you'll do." Pope said "Shut up!" JJ said and they got into a small argument
"Listen to me for a second. Pope, you and Savannah are going to stand look out with JJ. Okay? If we get split up, we meet back at JJ's house." John b said "Great." Kie said "I'm gonna work on my merit scholarship essay, and I'm trying to keep felonies to a minimum." Pope said and walked to the van, Savannah slid over to let him in "All right, would you just shut up already?" JJ asked
Savannah sat in silence looking around before she saw a little patch of flowers and got up and went to look at them. JJ watched he bend down in front of flowers and then walked over to her.
"Anna." He said standing behind her "Hmm" she hummed letting him know she knew he was there "are you mad at me?" JJ asked, Savannah shook her head and picked a few flowers "I feel like you are because I- because of what I did." JJ said "I'm not mad at you." She said still looking at the flowers.
