Alex sat at the bar, sipping on his whiskey and being lost in a dreadful train of thought. He was beginning to question if music was the right career for him. Yes, of course he enjoyed it but he was just so physically and mentally exhausted it was starting to make him doubt. The tour had been exhilarating as always, yet it never seemed quite like all he hoped for. He was thankful of course, for all that he had been given in the last 10 or so years but the lack of privacy always got to him. It's not always fun to constantly have the press around watching your every move.
He was so lost in his own head he didn't notice a woman approaching him. She was about 5'5, brunnete and very, very fucking pretty.
"are you okay?" she spoke softly, her words like caramel melting off her tongue.
Alex scavenged his mind for an awnser for a moment, not wanting to sound rude. He watched as her eyebrows furrowed as she awaited a response. Fuck, he was staring at her for too long. "What- uh- yeah- I'm fine mate thanks-" He managed to stutter out, he was very startled by her sudden appearance. "I'm Victoria by the way sorry for startling you you just looked kind of out of it." she smiled, softening her eyes when she noticed he seemed to be alone. "alex, nice to meet you victoria" He replied, sounding out her name abit in his own head and breaking the prolonged eye contact between them.
"So.. are you here alone?" she asked running a hand through her hair. Alex cleared his throat "Yeah, my mates left earlier. I just kinda needed a drink to clear my head" He laughed before looking over and checking for her reaction. She giggled slightly "Well then Alex, do you have any other hobbies other than drinking?" She joked. The way she said his name sent a weird feeling through him,He briefly questioned it before pushing the thought aside and replying "Yeah actually I'm in a band, and I write music sometimes"
She raises an eyebrow, "Oh so you're a rockstar then?" She teases him. "What do you do in your band? I'm interested" He takes another sip of whiskey. "I play guitar, I sing and I write so quite alot, I think I enjoy guitar the most tho. It's always fun to just be able to bring new music into the world" He smiles at her. " How bout' you Vic? got any hobbies?"
"I paint alot, apart from that just work, hardly as interesting as yours" She scoffs at her own words.
"What do you work as then?" he questioned, genuinely interested in getting to know her better. She seemed like a fun person to be around, and he really needed somone to talk to tonight so he would do everything he could to make it last even a little longer.
"I'm a florist I work near the tescos down the road"
This piques his interest ever further, his favorite café is around that area, he had went to it since he was about 18 and till this day he swears nowhere else can make better scones.
"Oh really? my favourite café is down that way, we should go to it sometime if your up for it" He suggests, his usual cocky manner sstrangley retreating around her.
"I'd love that! Here let me give you my details so I can text you when I'm free"
She smiles and begins to rummage around her bag, pulling out a pen and small sticky note, she scribbles down her number and name before folding it in half and giving it to him. He pockets it and continues to chit chat with her throughout the night.
At around 3 in the morning the bar begins to get very rowdy, Alex almost flinched at the very bulky man in the corner drunkenly stumbling his way around.
"God, its getting really packed in here what do you say we take a walk somewhere quieter darlin'?" His voice slurs with almost every word, he's drank alot more than intended and is pushing his limits a little bit. But she grins at the nickname.
"Alright then let me just nip to the bathroom and we can leave after" she scurries off while he pays for the drinks.
He promised he would pay for hers aswell earlier in the night even though she insisted on splitting the bill. When she returned Alex had to take a moment to take her in, all night he hadn't really been looking at her and now, even through hazy eyes he was abit shook.
He looked her up and down, she had on a tight black dress which reached her upper thigh. It was very revealing yet elegant in the same way. she smiled at him, it sent butterflies directly into his stomach. What the fuck was he thinking? He quickly saw sense, he had only met this girl a few hours ago. These were just drunken thoughts, they'd go away in the morning, or so he hoped. He offered her his hand and led her out the door, they took a stroll down the old English style street or where he called the "Posh side of town". The air was cool here, A draft of wind flew past her neck and sent goosebumps right through victorias body.
"so where are we going exactly?" She asked tilting her head a little.
He looked at her "fuck knows" he laughed.
The mix of his boots and her heels made a satisfying clicking sound as they walked. The sky was pitch black at this point and the stars looked extra bright for some reason. Her mind travels back to the first conversation they had earlier that night.
"earlier you said you needed a drink to clear your head what did you mean by that?"
This question almost stops him in his tracks completely, he slows his pace and sighs.
"work is just stressful, I mean obviously everyone looks at the big rockstar and thinks they must have a perfect life but I really don't. "
he takes a deep breath, She looks at him as if to let him know shes listening intentivly
"it's hard y'know? I never have privacy in my life anymore. Don't get me wrong I love my fans, I do. But I can never have secrets, fucking hell I think tonight is the only night I've been able to go out without the press shoving aa camera in my face. It's so hard to escape from"
he continues
"And there's also the fact im just not motivated to make music at the moment, everyone wants me to make what they want. I just don't want to be trapped in that cage anymore, I wanna make music I enjoy. but what if its pointless? i wanna help people with my music, motivate them whatever the fuck you wanna call it"
He runs a hand through his hair trying to collect his thoughts and looks back up at a very concerned looking victoria.
"Oh Alex, I'm so sorry."
she gives his hand a squeeze
" you really deserve better than that, you deserve privacy in your personal life. And please dont stop making your music personal to you just because others want you to, it's part of your charm. Fuck it's part of who you are you shouldn't change that for them."
He wipes his eyes trying to hide how upset he really is, but alas she notices. She stops and turns to look at him, then she wraps her arms around him and whispers a few comforting words.
