Ch. 10) Fact or fib..?

Ada begins walking as we follow, unsure of where she is leading us to. "Heard of the Umbrella Corporation? They're a pharmaceutical company secretly making bioweapons. They have a virus—it turns people into indestructible monsters." She keeps her eyes forward finally explaining what was going on.

"That explains the horrible things we've seen." Our eyes meet remembering everything we've been through. "And that's why i'm looking for Annette Birkin— She's the one at Umbrella responsible for unleashing the virus. I'm going to bring her down." Ada continues as she takes us down a flight of stairs leading to the sewers. Great.

"This is how we get to Annette." She points at the sewers as we look into them. "Based on what you've said... the sewer seems fitting." Leon looks at me, his nose scrunched with a wide eyed look. It stinks. "Well said. After you." Ada says, waiting for us to enter first. Hmm. Now she wants to follow?

"Gee thanks..." Leon gives her a sarcastic look while gesturing me to stay behind him too. Ada behind us both. "Can't imagine a real scientist down here." Leon still taking in his surroundings as we all breathe in the intoxicating fumes. "According to HQ this leads right into Umbrellas secret facility." Ada knows so much about this...

"Come on. The sewers are run by the city. How could they have a facility... without the authorities knowing." Leon has a point. None of this seems right. "Welcome to corporate America. Umbrella's controlled Raccoon City for years." Another snarky tone rolling off her tongue, almost aggravated that he didn't know.

The further into the sewers we got, the easier it was, our noses getting used to the fumes. Everything seemed fine until we heard a low rumble with a ripple through the sewer following. "What the hell was that?" I pull out my pistol looking around, Leons already out. "Jesus... That an earthquake?" Leon turns looking to me and Ada as we continue on, making sure we're okay.

"I sure as hell hope so." Ada shortly shoots back. Turning a corner, we see a HUGE crocodile like creature move from the opening of a new sewer. "What the hell...?" Leon slowly moves on as me and Ada keep our distance behind him. "Stay sharp. Only god knows what's down here." Ada says, me taking my pistol back out just for reassurance.

Soon the rumbling effect occurs another time. "Again...?" Leon says, checking on us again. "It's not too late for you two to turn back." Ada says, almost as if she was wanting us to leave. "Huh... nice try." I say turning around, her eyes already on my figure with a smirk.

"Yea no chance. We'll figure it out... all of us." Leon turns to both of us waiting for our eyes to be on him. Giving a reassuring nod as he jumps into the sewage level below us.

"You sure this is the right way?" He looks up at Ada hoping for a different answer to come to light. "Unfortunately." She looks at me as i look back to him, giving him a 'sorry' look. He smiles a tired smile at me before turning around. Another rumble rippling through the sewers... accept closer.

"Wait there." Leon looks back at us holding his hand in the air with a pause motion. Moving forward by himself. The anxiety rippling through my body.

"Please be careful Leon!!" I said as he was still close enough to hear me. Turning around, he gives me a sweet smile. I care about him so much.

With the rumbling continuing we, headed Leons way on the panels above. A huge crocodile like mutant emerges from the water behind him, causing the same rumble. So that's what it's been... "Jesus Christ!!!" Leon shouts putting away his gun. It was no use against this thing.

"RUN LEON!" I shout as me and Ada start running on the panels above him. Trying to get as close as possible! "Hurry get out of there!" She shouts after me, me running before her just barely hearing her foot steps as i take off.

"Holy Shit!!!" We hear Leon yell in the distance, but the paneling only goes so far. We continue on, pausing before Leon slides under a huge gas pipe, causing the attacking reptile to bite right on the pipe. Shooting it, Leon blows up the pipe taking the mutant with it. "Chew on that you overgrown son of a bitch." Leon reloads his gun looking for a way back up. Ada found a latter she kicks down, letting Leon climb up back to us. "Leon! Up here!" I shout running to the edge of the latter. "Hurry up." Ada says as he makes his way back up.

"Can't say i didn't warn you..." she says coldly towards Leon. "You said the virus turned people into monsters... not reptiles." He says aggravated with this whole situation. "Fair point. I'm just impressed you made it in one piece." She looks him up and down.

Ada back in the lead... she takes us to an elevator that leads us even deeper underground. "So let me get this straight: Umbrella sells monsters like that to who? Our military? Somebody else's?" Leon checks the amount of ammo he has on him, taking mine out of my pocket and checking that as well. Enjoying his touch as i wait on her to answer.

"They don't sell the monsters, they sell the viruses that make them. And Annette is who makes the viruses. Scary as that alligator was... Annette is far more dangerous." The elevator comes to a stop as we prepare out weapons to get off. The elevator opens, revealing a room with a zombie corpse and a woman standing over it.

"Deffenetly Williams handy-work." she says not realizing we had entered the room. Leon going in first, his gun raised towards the woman. "Identify yourself." Leon states firmly.

On his left side, I also hold my gun to the woman. "Annette Birkin." Ada answers for her stepping out around Leon, meeting her first. The lady still stuck on the zombie corpse. "Wait she's who we're looking for?" Leon keeps his eyes on the woman, no answer from Ada.

"Not much time... need to dispose of it..." Annette stands looking at Ada. "We're here for the G-Virus." Ada states firmly, pressing the woman in front of her. "That's not going to happen." a slight smirk coming to her lips as she denies Ada. "I'm warning you doctor." Ada moves closer.

Leon and I looking at each other ready for action. "Oh yeah?" She takes out a lighter and drops it on the corpse below her, lighting it on fire. "Hey!" Leon yells as the woman turns to run away ducking behind the automatic closing door, shooting at all of us!

With Ada ducking behind the other end of the door, me and Leon are stuck in open fire... "Y/N!" Causing him to jump in front of me, before taking a bullet through the shoulder. "Didn't expect that from a scientist." Ada stands back up realizing Leon had been shot.

I knelt down next to him, panicking as his blood starts pouring out. He had done this for me... but he had experience. What was I doing... okay... apply pressure to the wound. Lifting his torso to lean on my leg, he groans in pain as I put firm pressure on his wound.

"Forget about me... just go... stop her before she gets away..." Leon leans his head back on my thigh as I keep the pressure on him. "Take Y/N! I want her safe!" He lifts his head again nodding at me to go with Ada, earning a scoff from her.

"What?! No! I'm not leaving you Leon!" tears starting to form at the thought of me leaving him behind like this. "I don't care what we have to face. I'm staying here. And i WILL protect you... just like you did for me." I look down at him, his eyes were glossed over but fixed on my eyes. "Go! We'll be okay! I'll meet you!" I turned and said to Ada, she nodded in agreement before leaving.
