The Median

Designed and built by Tempus, the Median was formed centuries ago to serve as a platform connecting different worlds - different dimensions, linking them all together to one invisible thread. The sole purpose is to make it convenient for every magical being to teleport themselves at ease, jumping from one dimension to another, to get their work done. No one but an Immortal, or a being with supernova powers could access it.

Spinning at the speed of light, the natural phenomenon ruling the place is magical liquid and smoke spreading its way throughout the multidimensional space, which is usually surrounded by thickly dense forests, multiple cliffs, and the ever-thunderous enigmatic sky growling above the head, radiating different shades of light. The temperature is beyond negative, too cold that it can freeze the brain cells in a matter of microseconds. The presence of magic running in the veins of a Mage, an Immortal, or any magical being brings warmth, thus preventing the coldness from reaching the surface.

It relies on an Immortal's magic. Unlike mortals, they don't need core elements like earth, fire, wind, water, and sky to be loaded and coded within their system. The Median senses its magic, creates a sustainable environment, and shifts accordingly. One could also say that it's traveler friendly.

It was long foretold that mortals need to die to step inside the radius of the Median, the elements necessary for supporting life and survival don't exist in this space. A soul can transfer itself into another dimension through the mentioned passageway once life ceases to exist.

To induce and further catalyze a sense of ease and warmth, the appearance looks so earthly, encouraging a mortal's soul to work its way out at ease.

Though the Median changes form now and then, taking the shape of the latest habitat of every soul that passes through it while effectively serving as a connecting ground for all dimensions. It is imperative to note that a mortal's soul needs to be extremely careful in making its way through the right door, lest it would only wander around aimlessly for infinity.

The reason is time. It stands neutral on the ground.

Tempus made sure of it.

Simply put, matter does not exist in this space. The platform evolves, appears, and disappears according to the revolving bodies and their electromagnetic pull around it. This is how it was designed in the first place, however, a shift in Magee's magic centuries ago caused turbulence and disturbances in the placement of the passage, making it appear almost at will. Magical disturbances which result in the accumulation of profound energies in the substantial form under one roof can attract the penetrating forces regulating the Median, triggering the platform to reveal itself at unusual intervals in both time and space.

Never mind the appearance, the result is usually calamitous, for no living being can access it, let alone survive. The presence of vitals supporting life does not exist.
