1. The perks of having loving parents.
The sound of my heels hitting the ground feels like music to my ears. I make it as loud as the sound of thunder to make them notice and feel my presence, but of course with elegance.
The servant is making a way, bowing their head, crawling to my presence as I passed by them. The sides of my lips lift. I flipped the side of my hair to mix the fragrance of it in the air. I noticed them tilting their heads, trailing my scents.
The other side of my lips rose up; tuluyan na akong napangiti. They are obviously pointing my mood. I smiled more; I am truly happy. I paused when I reached the door. The door to my king. I brace myself, flashing my loveliest smile. And when I reach on the handle of the door, I slightly open it, but the light coming from the room is too inviting. And when I widely open it, the brightness of gold envelopes me, followed by the scent of flowers. When the lights start to subside, the only thing I see is my king. There he is sitting, on his throne.
"Sweetie."
The king smiled at me, offering his hand and commanding me to get closer. And I, the luckiest girl in the world, were able to experience his generosity. My king screamed simplicity, yet it signified how elegant he was.
He's there dashing, looking elegant, as he was supposed to be. And...he's wearing glasses!"Dad," I said in my most low, disappointed voice. His eyeglasses always ruin my imagination. In a snap, everything changed into normal. The golden room turned into black and white, filled with books. And the throne turned into a swivel chair and desk with some paper on it. I sighed. My supposed-to-be-play was gone, but it will not leave the fact that my father really looked like a king and was living in an elegant mansion that was worth gold.
"Why? What is it? Don't tell me, your in your play again?"
My dad is really sharp as a knife. But I don't want to admit it. Soon, I will be having my 18th birthday, so I should stop playing my own game.
Dad closed his folder. He fixed his hair as well as his necktie, and then he cleared his throat. "Hmm... what is the purpose of coming here, my princess?" he said in his baritone voice.
I rolled my eyes and smile. Umiling-iling akong lumapit sa kanya.
"Dad, the play is already over. You ruined it with your glasses," sabi ko at sinuot ang salamin niya sa mata, pero inalis ko din agad dahil wala akong makita. No wonder he always wears it. I grabbed another chair and placed it by his side. "But yes, dad, there's a purpose to me coming here."
"What is it?" he asked.
"Well... I'm just wandering of what could be your presents for me." Umakbay ako kay dad, and I place my chin on his shoulder.
"Presents talaga ha, marami." He nodded lightly.
I chuckled. "So ano nga Dad? Wag na pa-suspense."
"Well...hindi ko sasabihin sa'yo. Because it was supposed to be a surprise. What's fun in there if it weren't?"
I pouted my lips, and I got back to my seat. Actually, I have a hint for dad's gift. But I already have a license. Yes, I am that excited. So I thought maybe he will give me a car. "If its a thing, then I want it to be red," I said.
