Okay, so for those of you who follow me on here, don't be too excited: this is a project for school. However, I should be updating the quotes collection soon. For those of you grading this, hi! For my final I decided to write a series of villanelles about different characters and ships from YA book series. The book series' I wrote villanelles for are as follows:
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas;
The Mara Dyer Trilogy (The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, The Evolution of Mara Dyer, and The Retribution of Mara Dyer) by Michelle Hodkin;
And the Throne of Glass series (The Assassin's Blade: The Throne of Glass Novellas, Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire, and the as-yet-unpublished Queen of Shadows) by Sarah J. Maas.
All of the characters/ships these villanelles are written about are not mine and belong to their respective author. These villanelles are not spoiler-free. If they were, then I wouldn't have been able to accurately capture the character/ship. Some of the villanelles reference specific lines from the series. In those instances, the line in the villanelle will be marked with an asterisk, and the quote it references will be located after the villanelle. There is a music video attached to each villanelle. I like to make music playlist for the books I read, and I chose a song for each villanelle that I felt best represents the character/ship. Some of them I knew immediately what song I would use, and others I had to contemplate for a while. Even if you haven't read the books these characters/ships are from, you may cry reading these villanelles (particularly Dorian's, Nehemia's, and Sam's). If it is needed, there will be a pronunciation guide before each set of villanelles, along with a summary of the series in question. If you have any questions about anything, either ask me in class and I'll answer then, or feel free to leave a comment and I'll answer you there. I hope you enjoy them!
(As a side note, the song I added to this "chapter" is just one of my favorites. The song is A Little Faster by There for Tomorrow).
