It's just perplexing to me
How one single person can feel so depleted
Known to never accept the empathy
That has always been thrown her way
Many days etsolate to gray
And countless tears go to waste
When they could've been saved
For an actual strenuous day
Until the ends of time
Love will never be felt the same way
As when they all gathered and took snapshots
Of the joyful child eagerly waiting
To open her presents
On her fifth birthday
Reflection blocked,
Soul bolted locked
If happiness is held securely fastened
Only to be presented with the company of a key
Then never will I come to know
The feeling of being close to ones heart
