Marianne couldn't believe her eyes the day she opened her door. It was a regular Sunday afternoon in New York and she was just about to head out to church when she heard a knock at her door. Her husband, Jacob, had already headed out that morning for an errand before going. Marianne stayed behind to finish some stuff up at the small building they called home.
There was a man at the door. He was pall, tall but lean, with a scruffy beard but had eyes that were kind and gentle with a smile to match. Marianne felt her heart race at the sight of him. She looked down at his finger and saw a familiar piece of string on him, something she has as well.
This must be my soul mate!... but where has he been? It's been a year since the Titanic sunk and he may have been one of the survivors but where has he been? Marianne wondered. She must have been lost in thought because she jumped when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
"Miss, are you alright? You look a bit pale." The man said. His voice was a bit gruff, but had a gentle tone to it.
"Yes, yes I'm right. Prey tell, who are you sir?" Marianne asked.
"Ah, yes, let me introduce myself." He said. "Hello there, I'm your soul mate, my names Josiah Markins."
