Prologue

In an alternate universe where humans have magical abilities there is a small island with two kingdoms. In one of the kingdoms a small boy called Liam was born to a mighty powerful king and a humble woman. The king and queen raised the boy to be smart and kind. One day the queen who was loved by the whole kingdom got very sick. The king blamed his son for it since right before the queen got sick he had a common cold. One day when the sky was clear and the sun was bright the queen did not wake up. She had died in her sleep.

the kingdom mourned her death for days. Liam who was only 10 years old at this point refused to leave his room. The king who had loved his wife very dearly became angry with himself, his son and the world. The kingdom didn't notice but his son did, the king had changed. He was not the same person anymore. He was angry all the time. He would physically and mentally hurt his son. After the death of his wife the king became more power hungry. The king started using his magical ability more and more. His ability made it that he could easily manipulate people. He started making the villagers believe that everything was fine and that all would be well.

In the small village next to the castle was a boy around the same age as the kings son. He had beautiful dark skin and curls. He may have been only 10 years old but he was already one of the strongest of his family. His name was Apollo he was born to a loving mother and father. He was the only one in his family with magical abilities. he could bend metal easily and move heavy rocks. But life wasn't always easy for him, after the death of the queen the king started spreading bad lies about Apollo's family and other families that were just like his.

While most families in the kingdom didn't realize that something was going on the king was discreetly making it harder for the families to live there. He made them pay more to be there, he made it harder for them to get good education or good jobs to earn money to support their families. Because of these changes Apollo's dad was coming home way later so he could work longer hours to earn more money for his family. Because of that Apollo had to start helping his mother with taking care of his younger sister and brother.

On the other side of the kingdom in the big castle the young prince experienced real pain for the first time in his life. His father was so angry with him, he would often start to yell at him for no reason and push him around more. At that time the king also found out that his son didn't get a magical ability, the king tried forcing the magical ability out of his son but nothing worked he gave up and accepted that his son was useless and would be nothing to him. From then on the prince would spend most of his time in the castle library to hide from his dad. In the library he met a girl who was about a year younger than him. Her name was Amelie, she was very honest and had a cute bubbly personality. She was the daughter of one of the royal advisors. They quickly became friends and together they would spend hours in the library, reading books, playing pretend and brush each other's hair. When the adults realized that the two kids had grown very close they actually supported their friendship since that would mean that they could get married later in life. It was good opportunity for the king and the advisor. Even though the kids knew they would never feel that way for each other they were fine with it because it meant that they could be friends forever.

Apollo on the other hand did not have time for friends he had to take care of his younger siblings and had to do small jobs so he could also earn some money. His and many other families were slowly getting hated by more and more villagers.

When the king got too stressed he would try to find something to throw or break, sometimes it was a vase or a candle and sometimes it was his son Liam. During these rough times Liam would need a shoulder to lean on, he would cry and tell Amelie what had happened. He wouldn't trade Amelie for anything in the world. Amelie lived a nice life, she was rich, pretty, kind and hard working she was everything someone would wish to be. She was everything a guy would be attracted to but Liam wasn't attracted to her. He didn't understand why he couldn't bring himself to like her just like his father asked him to do. Even if Liam was still a young child he had never really been attracted to girls, maybe he just hadn't found the right one yet.

The same goes for Amelie she was constantly getting called pretty by boys but she never found them pretty. I guess in a weird way Amelie and Liam really were made for each other. At this point Liam and Amelie had both known each other for 3 years, Liam was 13 already and Amelie was 12. They were best friends, inseparable. Rumors were going around the kingdom that the young prince was dating a pretty blonde girl, but they were all wrong, Liam had promised that he would never fall for her and Amelie did the same.
