chapter 1

Chapter 1 : The current problem

It's a few years later and Liam is now 16. He walks towards the library to search for his best friend Amelie. He walks through the halls of the castle when he suddenly sees his dad, Liam tenses up and quickly takes another route towards the library. He arrives at the library and sees his best friend. "Amelie, I'm so glad you're here I almost ran into me dad" he says looking nervous. "well you got here so I assume he didn't see you did he?" Amelie says and Liam nods. "lets go for a walk outside, to get your mind off your dad" she smiles brightly. "yeah that's a good idea" he agrees

As they walked down the streets of the village they see blossom falling down a tree. "wow I didn't realize it has been this long since I actually took a good walk outside" said Liam looking at the pink tree. Amelie laughs quietly at his comment. "all you do is sit down and read books, you should go outside more often you know" she nudges his shoulder. It's a pretty quiet morning and the birds are chirping through the trees. The morning sun shining on their faces while they walk through the blossom filled streets.

Suddenly they hear a small noise coming from behind a bush. They both look at the bush in confusion. A cat jump out from behind the bush onto Amelie's poofy dress. Amelie picks up the cat. "was this little cutie interested in my fluffy dress" she says in a high voice. Liam chuckles: "seems like it". He goes in and pets the cat. They feed the cat some small treats and play with it. After a few minutes of playing with the cat they hear a commotion further away. The cat leaves from all the noise. "wait no kitty don't leave me here alone with this guy" Amelie says. "hey I'm not THAT bad am I? where is that noise coming from anyways?" "I don't know lets check it out. Maybe it is a street performer or something, that would be so entertaining to watch" she responds. They both go and check out what is happening. They see a big crowd of people surrounding a shop. They try and look through the crowd to see what is happening, but they don't see a performer. No, they see an angry shop owner and a kid who is around their age laying on the ground.

The shop owner is yelling at the kid. The boy stands up and run through the crowd. The boy accidentally ends up pushing Liam to the ground. "dude what the heck" Liam shout at the boy, as run away from the ground. "its probably another thieve. I heard from my dad that there are lots of them nowadays" she helps him up. "yeah but he didn't have to push me to the ground" Liam says annoyed. "I'm sure he didn't mean to. He probably has a reason for running away that fast" "Amelie, you are too kind for this world" Liam sighs. "what did he steal anyways?" they both look back and see some bread laying on the ground. "bread?! All this for a few loafs of bread?" Liam says shocked. Amelie places a hand on his shoulder and answers: "Liam not everyone can afford bread like us. Seriously do you never go outside?". They continue to walk back home to the castle.

In the evening Liam is laying in bed thinking about the mysterious boy 'can some people really not afford bread?' 'I mean dad did say that these types of families were bad people and I guess stealing is bad but when do I ever listen to dad?'.

The next day both Amelie and Liam are walking again. "I'm so glad you agreed on coming with me" Amelie exclaims. "I only came because I enjoyed spending time with you yesterday. Not because of what you asked" Liam yawns. "oh come one admit that you really do want to help that guy." She says. "No I really do not want to help that guy. You are too nice. Why would you want to buy bread for a thieve and how are we even going to find him? Did you think of that?" Liam says with tired eyes. "well no.. I don't know where to find him. But we can try can't we?" she smiles warmly at Liam. "there is no 'we' in this, I'm only tagging along because I enjoy walking with you."

They arrive at the same bakery from yesterday. "could we have 3 loafs of bread?" Amelie asks excitedly. "how am I supposed to know you both won't steal it?" The shop owner looks at us with a stern look. Liam sighs and moves his hair out of his face. "how about now?" Liam says tiredly. "oh I'm sorry I didn't see you there prince Liam. Here have the bread free of charge." Liam shrugs and takes the bread. They both walk away from he bakery. "that's not fair you get bread for free because you have the prince privilege" she says. "yeah and you have pretty privilege, I would say that helps more when finding love." "don't say that, you are pretty to" she exclaims. "I am not, the only reason those two girls asked me out was because of my money and you know it" Liam answers.

After a while of walking around an achieving nothing they sit down on a bench at the town square. They both sigh. "we have been searching for a full two hours when will you ever admit that we won't find him." Liam yawns. "I'm not giving up, hey, wouldn't it be funny the guy just suddenly showed up here?" she says laughing. "yeah like that will ever hap-" Liam got cut of as they see the mysterious guy they have been searching for. "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" Liam exclaims. "quick lets catch up with him before we lose sight of him" she says while standing up with the bread. They both run behind the boy. "hey you! wait up!" Amelie shouts. The boy doesn't even look behind himself and starts running away. "hey wait! We don't want to hurt you! We have something for you!" Amelie tries shouting again. Liam starts running faster towards the guy and catches up to him. He grabs the boys wrist to stop him from running. "let go of me" the boy says. The boy tries to free himself from Liams tight grip.
