PSA about Copyright

Sorry y'all this isn't a chapter, it's coming soon tho. I just wanted to bring attention to something not a lot of people know about. It was brought to my attention by Wattpad themselves that someone reported another individual's book saying that it was copying my book. Upon looking at it, it's a blatant copy of my work.

(Like it's so obvious it's sad. Do better stink.)

Wattpad is giving me the option to either file a DMCA takedown of the book, or leave it up. I've already reached out to the writer directly (I know you're reading this since you literally follow me) and I wanted to educate some of y'all because I get messages about people wanting to write, advice on how to write, etc.

I'm not a professional whatsoever. Writing on Wattpad is something I started a few years back and have enjoyed ever since. I will say though, that "Copyright" is not just a cute word you can slap on any book. It literally means just that; COPYRIGHT. Meaning you can't repurpose or republish any of my original work. This includes layouts, themes, characters, exact storylines, etc.

I used to have a problem with people using certain layouts that I created in my story, such as the layout for when characters are "texting" one another. I don't mind people using my layouts anymore, it is what it is bc y'all gon do it anyway — but you need to credit me. Everything I type on this app comes straight from my brain. If you know you didn't originally think of something, don't act like you did.

With that being said, copying a COPYRIGHTED story is illegal for those of y'all who don't know—

& before I get any "It's Wattpad, it's not thats serious" comments, please know that I've literally been approached by actual publishing COMPANIES that want to publish my book. I'm not interested in pursuing a writing career, but a lot of other writers on here are. So be very aware of the damage you may be causing YOURSELF by taking someone else's original work & stamping your name on it.

& let me get unprofessional real quick: I'm really not the one lol. I put my all into my books bc I have my little reader family that enjoys what I write & has been riding with me since the veryyyy beginning. I take my shit seriously. Meaning I won't take copying my book lightly. Before you even think about copying my book, just know there will ALWAYS be someone that follows me that finds it & as soon as I see it and see that you're blatantly copying me, I'm filing a DMCA takedown request. Sorry not sorry, I just don't play this.

2M on Stay Down 1 (The first story I've EVER wrote) On the road to a mil on Stay Down II, and over 100k reads on Kayori. I just do this fr. That's not me being cocky, that's me letting y'all know that people will EASILY recognize my writing style & layout anywhere.

All in all, I always say that my messages are open for people wanting advice on their stories. Once again, I'm not no writing expert (far from it) but I know a thing or two about writing on THIS app. Don't take advantage of my willingness to help. Just because I'm willing to give people advice on writing doesn't mean I'ma sit here like a sloth and let someone copy my book word for freaking word.

Moral of the story #1: My books are protected under copyright & infringing on that will get your story taken down. No questions asked.

Moral of the story #2: Find you something safe to play with please & thanks. I'm on this app to write something I enjoy & something y'all will enjoy reading, so please don't let me get Judge Judy on someone for copying my book.
