Why must it be you among all the people in the world? Why does it have to be you...Wolfram...
Yuuri felt a pang of pain as he uttered those words in front of his former fiancé. No, his ex-fiancé, while silently shedding tears and gazing at the latter's eyes.
Wolfram simply turned his head, avoiding any eye contact. It revealed nothing. Not what he had done... and not why he had done it... It provided no explanation other than an overwhelming sense of guilt for what had transpired...
Yuuri, who desperately needed answers, who had received none from the source or from the others who were tearfully and pityingly staring at him. Yuuri took a step back. He no longer wanted to see or hear anything. He no longer wished to face all those people who silently watched him, offering no explanation for what had happened during his absence and why things had ended up this way upon his return.
"Wolfram?" he called out amidst the crowd. "I never expected this... It almost knocked me out when I found out, you know."
(From the moment I responded to you, you were almost brought to tears of joy. You almost jump saying thank you every second of that day. It wasn't a lie, wasn't it? So why now?... What is this... You almost made me believe in such a sweet reunion...but now...)
Yuuri didn't know what else to say, voicing one more question to the dismissive figure who wouldn't even spare him a glance. "Wolfram?... Do you intend to keep me in the dark about this?... Do you plan to pretend?" he inquired, receiving no response whatsoever. Yuuri then whispered, his voice devoid of strength, "I can't believe you." before fleeing from the Blood Pledge Castle. He had no desire to turn back. He must have been mistaken about everything from the very beginning.
In the castle, there stood a man, his eyes welling up with tears that seemed endless. He refused to make eye contact with anyone, his gaze fixed on the floor, which appeared more important than his own life. On his right, a beautiful girl named Elizabeth embraced Wolfram from behind, offering him comfort, her hand tightly clasped with his. She watched him anxiously, fully aware that it no longer mattered whether Wolfram changed his mind, as they had already been wed five days prior to Yuuri's return.
Wolfram, consumed by deep regret, gently withdrew his hand and released Elizabeth's grip. He faced her and spoke, "Satisfied now?... It was quite entertaining to witness." He uttered these words before leaving the stage, accompanied by a visibly nervous Elizabeth, who trembled at the dark implications of Wolfram's words.
The audience, burdened with guilt, shared the same pain as Wolfram, knowing that it was their decision that led to this, unaware of Yuuri's return and the fate of the entire demon tribe resting in the hands of the Maoh and his chosen one, whom they now uncertainly assumed to be Elizabeth.
"What did I tell you, Gwendal?" said the man with slightly purple hair, seated near the table not far from the expansive window in the room. His voice was not raised, but it held a tone of concern, making the proud demon tribe members shudder in horror as they realized the consequences of their actions.
"And yet, we allowed this to happen," added Conrad from the other side of the room.
Gwendal, on the other hand, remained speechless. He believed it was for the best of the demon tribe, never anticipating that things would turn out this way, alongside the ten nobles by his side.
"The sky seems to remain dark indefinitely," said Greta, caught in the midst of her two fathers' conflict. Wolfram's mother, Cecil, gazed outside the window with worry for both Yuuri and her son, responding to Greta with a melancholic tone," I feared that it wouldn't brighten up... for a long time"
In a remote and unfamiliar place far to the north, there lay a man who was hungry, thirsty, and exhausted from the events following his departure from the palace. He no longer wished to live, and he cared not whether he still drew breath. It seemed as though he wished to curse himself for returning so late, to punish himself on a level that he knew would be easily accomplished.
He lay there, contemplating whether Wolfram had betrayed him? Or had he truly betrayed him? Had he done so willingly? He knew that something was amiss, and whatever Wolfram had done, he must have had his reasons.....
However, he dared not find out.
Perhaps it was because he was emotionally on the verge of collapsing, or maybe it was because he could no longer trust anyone due to his fiancé's betrayal.
In any case, he did not want to know the reason. He believed that no reason could justify his current state of mind. Above all else, one thing was crystal clear, clearer than the purest water. Wolfram was married. Wolfram had made a vow to someone else. He had no right to be with him any longer. Wolfram had found his own happiness, the blessing of having a true family. Yuuri simply nodded, understanding that perhaps Wolfram had realized his mistake in loving him, recognizing that their engagement had been accidental and Wolfram's love merely a confused illusion.
The fact that he had not taken Wolfram seriously after two years hit him hard. Elizabeth, the woman he had designated as Wolfram's potential wife, hit him even harder. He let out a sigh and covered his face with his arm.
"Perhaps he will be better off with her," he whispered, devoid of hope.
Tearfully, Yuuri silently congratulated Wolfram in the empty air and suppressed all his confusion, leaving nothing but emptiness within.
