I peeked out from behind the bushes, and saw the 3 kids run by; Wires, Cricket, then Marbles. I swore under my breath. Gonner slowly peeked his head out after me, after they left. "Who were they??" Isis asked fearfully. "Kids. They're from my school. They posted a video about how they were gonna find and expose zombies.." I explained. At the word 'video', Gonner and Isis looked at me like I was insane. I figured I didn't have the time or energy to explain the internet to them so I just moved on.

"Do you know any other zombies who live around here? We need to warn them!" I exclaimed. Isis shook her head. "The only zombie out here is Piroska! All the other zombies were captured by Nebulosa and her dark angels. Besides that though, I think there are some skeletons around." I finally stepped out from behind the bushes. "So then let's go!" Isis didn't budge, and Gonner stood up and tugged on my arm. "I ain't tryna get caught, Lad. Who knows where the mortals are now."

I rolled my eyes at there stubbornness. Sure it was for good reason but it was a little over dramatic. "We just saw them. They could've gone too far. Why are you so paranoid?" I asked them, a little annoyed. "Isis just be like that. I've been caught before!" Gonner explained. I went quiet. I felt bad that I was trying to make them help me, even though they were both rightfully afraid of humans. "O-oh. I'm sorry, I didn't realize." I apologized a little awkwardly, but Gonner just smiled and shook his head. "Aye, yer fine."

Isis still sat on the dirt. "Ye comin, Isis?" Gonner crossed his arms. Isis groaned and pushed herself up. "Alright I'll come. I'm only doing this so you two nit-wits will stop nagging me!" She said as she dusted herself off. "It ain't nagging, we be helping the dead." Gonner mocked her. Isis pushed past him and started walking. I tilted my head at her "Uhm, Isis? Where are you going?" "To round up whoever we find. Or just tell them to be extra cautious." She seemed confident enough. "That ain't no way to live....Or die." He whispered to me.

I was about to follow when I realized the time. "Oh.. I-I should get home soon. I don't want my mom to worry about me." Isis turned around with a sour look on her face, but Gonner only giggled. "No worries, we'll still be here. Ye go right along." Isis stormed up to me. "No! You can't leave now! You wanted to go out and warn others about the mortals coming, and now your leaving? It's like you want us to get captured!" Isis accused me like I hadn't been helping them this whole time.

"No, of course not! I just really need to get home and-" I started, but Gonner interrupted "Isis, let em go home." He sighed. Isis looked from me to him and tightly crossed her arms "Fine!" She barked. I smiled at Gonner and started to leave, but he grabbed my shoulder as I turned around "Don't let her get to ye, she just a tad antsy around mortals." He smiled and let me go, so I nodded and left. I followed the trail out and walked back to my house. My brother met me at the door. 'Why the hell was he outside?' I thought.

"So, you gonna tell me where you were?" He asked. I just stared at him dumbfounded. "What?" I asked, but he only raised his eyebrows. "I don't have to tell you!" I exclaimed. He wasnt my dad and especially not my mom. "Yeah, I'm your older brother, you have to tell me." He demanded. I stayed quiet. "I'll tell mom." I groaned at that. I didn't want mom to know I was talking to the dead, she would've thought I was insane! Though saying it aloud made me think maybe I was crazy. Whatever.

"I was.. Going to see a friend." I answered. "That frantically? Did they murder their parents or something and asked you to hide it?" He grinned sarcastically. "She was pregnant!" I blurted. I don't know why. Nobody was pregnant, it was just the first thing I thought of. Xavier suddenly got quiet, and looked to the left maybe in embarrassment. "Mhm! A teen mother." I added. I might be a bad person for that, but I couldn't tell anyone what I was really doing.

Xavier slowly went back inside and left the door open for me to come inside too. I walked inside, and just hoped Gonner and Isis were okay. I paced around the living room in anxiety. Xavier didn't ask questions, it made me feel a little better until he did. "So.. How pregnant is she? How old is she? What's her name? Do her parents know?" His concern only made me feel worse because now I really had to stick to this dumb lie. I gulped and thought for a moment.

"Well, she just found out. She's 15, and her name is.." I looked around and saw a vase on the counter. "Her name is Tulip..? And no, her parents don't know. She- she's fine and healthy!" I tried to get out of the situation. His eyes widened a little. I think all my stuttering and looking around didn't help me right now. "Y/N, your telling the truth right?" He asked. I nodded. "Yeah! Of course! Why would I lie to you?" He narrowed his eyebrows. I knew I had blew it. "Y/N I'm gonna get pissed if your lying to me." He hissed

I sighed. "I was walking through the woods." I figured it would he fine if he didn't know the whole truth. "You were just walking through the woods? You were just paying the zombies a visit?" He giggled. I felt my face turn white. "I'm just kidding.." He murmured. I ran away and went upstairs. "Y/N it was a joke!" He yelled, almost following me up the stairs. I knew he was joking, I just panicked and scurried up the stairs.

I shut the door. I couldn't let him know. I couldn't let anyone know..
