The Eternal Flame

Prologue

Since before I can remember, I've been surrounded by weapons and magic. It's probably part of the territory of being born into a family of protectors. Note that my ancestors have guarded the Eternal Flame, a prized possession of our kingdom, for centuries before I was born. It was a job that had been passed down through the generations of my family.

I have a lot of expectations and responsibilities as the oldest child of a prominent family. I am the heir to the Eternal Flame's highest rank among its protectors.

Though it was only during my third training lesson, I vividly recall the first time I saw a duel. My parents had staged a mock duel to show me what it would be like if I had to fight in the future. By the end of the lesson, I was enthralled by the amazing display of magic, swordsmanship, and archery that had been presented to me. That was the turning point for me, and it motivated me to keep learning and honing my skills so that I could take over my responsibilities when the time came.

Training takes place three times per week. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Mondays are dedicated to magic, Wednesdays to swords, and Fridays to archery. On the weekends, however, I occasionally have a quick lesson on all three.

I have two younger sisters, whom I adore. Their names are Aurora and Celestia. They are the most wonderful younger siblings a person could wish for. They can be aggravating at times, but I will always love them for who they are.

My life is fantastic, even if it isn't perfect. I enjoy learning magic, swordsmanship, and archery. And, to be honest, safeguarding a prized possession is pretty cool. In addition, I come from a wonderful family and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
