Onika's Pov

"Thanks for covering my shift, Nic, I don't know what I'd do without you."

"Don't mention it Lo, you know I had to come through for my best," Flashing her a smile over the phone. She had called me this morning, blurting on about a code blue. As soon as those words left her lips, I knew exactly what was up.

Knowing Lauren, I knew that her codes always had something to do with a guy. I had a good idea on who it was, but I wasn't going to press her for the information. Me being the good friend I was, I wouldn't pry.

Lauren was the type that loved to be chased, she never ran after anyone. She played the hard to get role as if she were afternoon parking, rare and hard to come by.

She made it look easy, while I got nervous at the thought of love. Anything edging the path of it made me uneasy, sick to my stomach even. Yet, I had no issue with sex, pleasurable stimulation elicited by another individual set off endorphins in my brain unknown until my first.

Now I was on a drought, school had become too much to even think to engage in such an act. Now that the summer was back on, I planned to get a little something if I could manage it.

"And does, I love you Nini. I'll call you later, this nigga should be pulling up in a minute. Thank you again, I appreciate you boo," Just as she predicted, the blaring of a car horn could be heard through the call. I chuckled as she rolled her eyes.

"Alright Lolo, I love you too. Have fun with your little boy toy," Blowing me a kiss, I returned the gesture followed by a small wave before the call ended.

I sat the phone against the desk, looking around the shop. Luckily the store wasn't too busy today, I didn't have much to do. Customers came and went, so that just left me to run the register and organize the shelves.

"Here you go, have a nice day," You'd think with the business being so idle today, it'd be easier. Which it was, but with that came boredom and slowness.

I sat back at the desk, my nails tapping against the wood grain, eyeing the door for any lingering customers.

When it appeared as if no one would be walking inside, I treaded to the back to grab the stock to refill some of the emptying shelves. Deciding that I would complete the lower sections and work my way up from there.

Like usual, most trays had their supply taken from the back of the boxes. I understood and was somewhat appreciative, that meant less sorting for me.
