Chapter 9

Anne's POV:

"Shit." Sasha said. I still looked at it blankly. She saw me looking at my phone and said, "Don't read that." and she grabbed my phone away from me.

"What does it say?" I ask.

"You didn't read it?" I shook my head. "Well you know how I was being blackmailed? I just got outed to the entire school."

"Holy shit." I said as I watched her stand up and start pacing around her room.

"I mean what do I do now? Like what if they do something else or they find more things to blackmail me with. What if everyone at school hates me? What if my mom finds out? I don't want her to find out. What if I get kicked off the cheerleading team. I don't know what to do. I need to know what to do. I always know what to do but now I don't. I don't know what to do. I don't know." She slid down to the floor and started crying.

"Hey hey Sasha it'll be okay." I sat next to her and put my arm around her.

"How do you know that?" She asked, tears still flowing out of her eyes.

"I'll beat up anyone that tries to mess with you."

"Good luck with beating up everyone at school and my mom."

"How would your mom even find out?"

"Maggie is like best friends with her, it's so weird. My mom said that Maggie is the daughter she always wanted. So she's not a big fan of me even though she literally birthed me." She tried to laugh but she couldn't.

"She's kind of stupid."

"Don't say that, it's my mom."

"If she doesn't like you then she's stupid."

"Why?

"Because you're awesome." She kinda is. I mean she has been cheer captain longer than anyone else. She somehow bullied the cheer captain, who was a senior, into making her cheer captain when she was in eighth grade. It might have not been right but hey at least she had her priorities straight.

"Shut up."

"No no I'm serious Waybright, anyone who doesn't like you is an idiot because you're awesome like you do so many cool things."

"Yeah right, you can probably do the same things."

"Nope."

"Name three things."

"Carrying people, being popular, and barre chords." I can't do any of those things.

"Well I guess you're kinda right."

"I'm always right."

"But Anne, what am I going to do tomorrow? What if the entire school hates me?"

"I think most of the school has basic human decency."

"It's high school."

"It's not Heathers, there aren't people at the top who don't get affected by things."

"Yes there is, I was literally part of it a couple of months ago."

"Well if someone starts hating you I'll politely fight them." After I said this she started laughing hysterically. I don't know why though, it wasn't that funny. So I decided to say "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, thanks, I just got to figure out what to say to my mom since Maggie is definitely telling her."

"Well you don't have to figure that out right now."

"Yeah you're right."

"We can watch something or we can do some homework or something." I really hope she doesn't choose the homework option.
