Because Will fell first but Nico fell harder

~

It had been a month since they last saw each other.

Well, they saw each other but they couldn't meet and talk and kiss and it was eating Will up inside.

Apparently Nico's second year professors were working them overtime to catch up with portions before the exam. Since Will had got him into that awful habit of being studious, he was almost never around in time to meet.

"How am I ever gonna get my work done if I miss all my classes?" Nico would say. Ugh.

But Will could respect that... -ish.

On the lovely occasion of Nico's roommate leaving town, Will risked a trip to Nico's dorm as the sun settled down for the evening.

His deft knock was answered by a creaked open door and the sliver of a black adorned man with pale skin.

"Hey."

Nico slammed the door after he entered. Will moved further inside, examining his neatly organized desk and caught a glimpse of the smile creeping onto Nico's face and his cheeks flushing a pretty pink with his back against the wood. "Hi."

"You could have told me that your roommate was gone, you know."

"I would have but I only found out in the morning and had to run for class! Mr. Hayes is a real pain," Nico rolled his eyes, crossing one foot over the other, looking all cool and whatnot.

"Sure... so, how are you doing?"

Will moved to sit on the bed when the shorter man pounced on him, making them both crash on the cot.

Before he could do more than chortle, Will flipped them around so Nico was grinning with twinkling eyes beneath him. But rising to his knees in victory rendered him in the opposite position.

"Ow," the top of his head ached as he fell by Nico's side, who was laughing, clutching at his stomach and gasping for breath.

Of course, it wasn't that funny; Will being partially blind and thus missing the bunk bed atop them. Oh, but he was in stitches too for no other reason than the beauty that unfolded before him.

These moments happened often now. Close, intimate ones where there was no one else, nothing else in the world for them, as far as they were concerned —w hen time seemed to stop and let only them reign free, be happy. It made everything worth it.

And the beauty of Nico di Angelo laughing without a care in the world made an intensity of emotions overflow his heart, made his limbs weightless and his stomach twist in happy dances. Was he aware of his emotions most of the time? No. But he knew enough about human emotions to discern that this was good... He was happy with Nico, Nico made his life better.

He was in love with Nico.

"I love you," The words did not need his permission to be out there, because it already existed even if only in their minds. The words were true.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a blush rising to Nico's cheeks, high and bright.

Yeah, Will wanted to whisk Nico away to an island in the middle of nowhere and raise monkeys and dolphins together. And that was bloody ridiculous.

Such is love.

Nico gazed at him, perching himself higher than Will leaning on his left arm. His hand was still hovering by Nico's jaw.

He leaned forward and caught Will's lips in a kiss, pushing his head back into the pillow more. He pulled away too soon.

"I love you too." Those words were also true. So they lived happily ever after.

A/N: And that was your masterclass on cliches, everyone.

There's a part two because I wrote this on the side when I was working on the main fic but now I have so many more thoughts on Nico and Will falling in love in this universe.

Yours truly,

ReynaLovegood2 :)
