Sasuke always knew he felt something for Naruto. So being in love with her was that much more obvious when clarified after talking about those emotions she seemed to make him feel with his parents and Itachi. When his parents first started inviting her over for dinner, he would always think that she looked so cute with her star eyes and full cheeks, making her look like a squirrel when eating his mother's food. Sometimes her head strong personality would just make him want her by his side forever. Other times, it would be her smarts. She would often (all the time) catch him off guard with how good she is at coming up with a plan when sparring against Itachi or Shisui (and it actually works! ), as their goal would be to pin them down before they used their sharingan on them.
He had trouble showing it to her, and his brother would always tease him about it. It wasn't his fault that she was dense. He tried to make it obvious several times by bringing her lunch, which he stayed up late to make for her. She would always thank him and give him this blinding smile of hers, making him swoon, as it was one of her rare and true smiles. After the lunch making was an obvious failure to him (he didn't stop making them even after she didn't get why), he would take her after their spars to hang out by the Naka river. They would both just lay down from exhaustion and stare at the stars. Words were never exchanged on those hangouts. They weren't needed. Just the presence of the other was enough.
It obviously didn't work. He was sure he heard a few of his fangirls talking about how it was so romantic to watch the stars together. He doesn't know why it doesn't work with her. Maybe he should have been more clear in his way of expressing himself. Or he should be more affectionate towards her. He's sure she would get it that way. He decided he would stop being so scared and tell her. He would tell her if they got on the same team. He sure hopes they are on the same team.
On his way to the academy to get his team arrangement, he prayed and begged the gods to have the stupid blonde girl on his team, and boy was he only hoping to get her on his team. He wanted to see her stupid grin that made his insides melt, her crystal blue eyes shining every time she announced loudly that she'd become the best ninja the world has ever seen, or that stupid orange colour that suits her so much every day. He wanted to be with her. He wanted to continue to see her every day.
He snapped himself back to reality; he doesn't need a distraction on his first day as genin. It's not that he sees Naruto as a distraction, but if she plagues his mind, he won't be able to focus for the rest of the day on anything that isn't related to her. He needed his brain free of any thoughts about her. He sat in his seat on the second row and could only hope those stupid fangirls of his wouldn't annoy him today. It was the last time he was going to see any of them (hopefully).
A group of girls started swarming around him once he was in the classroom, screaming and shouting his name loudly. He told himself to be patient. Just a few hours. It was only a few hours, and he won't see their ugly faces again.
'But Naruto is not ugly,' his brain supplied, making his ears turn red. He needs to stop. He can't start thinking about her right now. He can't afford it. Her smooth yet rough voice is like music to his ears. Her electric blue eyes seem to glow in the dark. Her sunshine blonde hair that is roughly cut just beneath her chin and how she would tuck behind her ears some of her falling locks into her eyes when she's too focused on something. He would always have to stop himself from thinking about tucking her locks of hair behind her ears for her.
He was snapped back to the real world when he heard Naruto's voice. She was getting yelled at again by the pink-haired girl in their class. It was a daily occurrence at this point. He never liked how she would always pick on Naruto. Sasuke could confirm that she was the most annoying girl, along with the Yamanaka heir.
