CHAPTER ONE :
THE BEAN FIELD──────
The woman stood tall, her daewoo gun in hand as she faced the gathered crowd that surrounded the now cordoned off Sphere that had landed in a bean field.
Her fingers tightened slightly, and her shoulders rolling back to settle herself into a more comfortble as the hot sun shone down on the field.
This was the first sphere that had fallen from the sky in korea. A year ago, the sphere's had appeared randomly in the sky - floating mid-air
The sphere's hand landed everywhere worldwide except in some parts of Russia and the polar regions, which made Dam-bi think that perhaps the sphere's didn't like the cold.
The colour of the spheres was Dam-bi's favourite colour, purple.
But seeing a sphere so close for the first time, Dam-bi couldn't help but compare the sphere to a marble since the purple seemed to have a marble like appearance from so close up but she soon found out - it was because whatever was inside the sphere, was alive and moving.
With narrowed eyes, she watched as soliders got closer to the sphere, one of them being her idiotic brother.
She could see the excitement on his face as he spoke to another soldier, pointing at the sphere only to offer the male a thumbs up as they spoke but his face became serious a few seconds later - he had gotten scolded, again.
A moment later, everyone began to gather, dambi's eyes soon landed on the commander who had arrived with a few of his men.
Stepping away from the truck filled with supplies, she moved to stand beside another soilder, solider lee - they had met in the truck during the journey to the bean field. He seemed cold and unapproachable, but he seemed to be good at his job.
As the commander got out the car and began to march forward, the soliders all began to raise their hands to their heads, saluting the male. Dambi had waited a few seconds for the commander to be a little closer before she too saluted the man.
A cough left her lips as the commander stepped into a hole and began to tug at his leg, unable to retrive it. Her eyes lit up in amusement as she watched his men pull his leg from the hole.
Never a dull day in the army.
She watched as the soldier who had been talking to her brother was scolded and kicked by the commander who wasn't happy with the way the soldier had gone about the situation.
A soft sigh left Dam-bi's lips. The commander hadn't given them any proper orders as far as she had heard other than to secure the area.
She watched as the commander took her brother's rifle, only to scold him for giving the rifle up so easily. Another sigh left her lips. Her brother wasn't the brightest.
Dambi watched as the commander stepped forward and yelled out for the soldiers who were surrounding the sphere to move. once everyone was out the way, the commander lined up - aiming the rifle at the sphere before sending a few shots into the creature.
But other than a few ripples against the sphere - nothing happened. It was almost like when a droplet of water hit the surface of a pool of water - it rippled for a second and then returned to normal.
Murmers from the soldiers began to sound quietly around the bean field. "No reaction at all?"
Dam-bi's eyes narrowed slightly in curiousty as she watched the sphere for a moment before her eyes turned back to the commander who had demanded the panzer.
A small chuckle left her lips at the scene before her, the panzer had his weapon pointed at the men instead of having it lowered and just about everyone infront of him had freaked out, including dambi's brother.
She felt eyes on the side of her face and turned to glance to her left only to make eyecontact with solider lee who's eyes soon left her own to watch the scene once more.
She hadn't meant to laugh, but the men had looked like they were dancing as they tried to get away from the panzer, dambi was the type of person who laughed at the wrong type of moments.
She watched as the commander spoke to the panzer for a moment before panzer got into position to shoot.'That can't be good.' Dam-bi thought to herself, a horribble sinking feeling in her stomach as she watched the male lower himself onto one knee.
"Sir! Maybe we shouldn't provoke it!" Dam-bi called out, but her words fell on deaf ears for no one even glanced at her except her brother, min-joon, and Lee, who eyed the side of her face again.
She watched as the men behind the panzer all took a step back and covered their ears, and for a moment, she stood frozen, but movement from her left caught her attention. Lee had stepped forward towards the panzer and commander, but he only made it one step before the panzer shot his weapon.
Coughing dambi waved her hand in front of her, trying to clear the dirt and dust that had lifted from the impact of the panzer hitting the sphere.
But once the dirt and dust had settled slightly, her eyes found the sphere which was still surrounded by the dirt, the sphere was still intact, sitting just as it had seconds before.
A few seconds passed before what looked to be purple electricity or maybe lighting or something along the lines of that began to flash through the dirt cloud that was surrounding the sphere.
In a panic, her eyes found her brothers from across the field, his own eyes meeting hers.
and then - the screaming began, and the world turned black.
